Dissidia Final Fantasy Revealed, Has One Major Difference From Predecessors

Square Enix is releasing a new Dissidia Final Fantasy game called Dissidia Duellum. It’s being developed for iPhones and Android phones and will feature 3v3 battles where players fight as a team against powerful bosses. The game is set in present-day Tokyo.

Okay, so I’m super hyped – Square Enix is bringing together a bunch of Final Fantasy heroes like Cloud, Lightning, and the original Warrior of Light to fight Chaos again! But this time, they’re giving them all modern outfits. They’re aiming to get it out in 2026, which feels like forever away, but I’m already counting down the days!

If you’d like to be among the first to play the game, you can sign up for a closed beta test on Android. This is currently open to players in the United States and Canada, and you have until October 28th to register.

The Dissidia series hasn’t had a new release on PC or consoles since Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Originally appearing in arcades in 2015, it came to PC and PlayStation 4 in 2018. While a free version was released in 2019 to try and boost its popularity, official support for the game ended in 2020.

Fans of Final Fantasy VII Remake have more to look forward to! Development is still underway on the third and final game in the Remake trilogy. Plus, the first two games, Remake and Rebirth, are coming to Xbox Series X|S and the new Switch 2. PlayStation 5 owners can now pre-order a bundle containing both games for $60, with a release date of December 4th.

Those who enjoy classic PlayStation games can now preorder the remastered versions of Final Fantasy VII & VIII, as well as a physical copy of Final Fantasy IX for the Nintendo Switch. All will be available starting December 9th.
