Twitch CEO admits he only put Kai Cenat on streamer Mount Rushmore as “he asked”

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently revealed he included Kai Cenat on his list of the platform’s top streamers only because Cenat asked him to. Clancy confessed he felt pressured to add Cenat to his ‘Mount Rushmore‘ of Twitch personalities.

There’s been a lot of debate over which Twitch streamers are the most iconic – the ones who deserve a place on a ‘Mount Rushmore’ of the platform. Often, the discussion includes creators and fans highlighting those who’ve been streaming since the very beginning, back when it was Justin.tv.

Popular Twitch streamers like Sodapoppin, Reckful, Summit, Ninja, Lirik, and CohhCarnage are still active, but newer stars such as CaseOh, Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed, Ibai, Emiru, and ExtraEmily now have larger audiences. Despite this shift, there’s ongoing discussion about whether the original, well-known streamers deserve a permanent place among the platform’s most iconic figures.

When Kai Cenat asked Twitch CEO Dan Clancy to name his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of streamers, Clancy selected a diverse group. His picks were Kai, Pokimane, Ninja, and CohhCarnage, and he also briefly mentioned IShowSpeed as an honorable mention.

Okay, so Twitch CEO Dan Clancy just dropped his personal Mount Rushmore of streamers, and it’s pretty interesting! He listed Ninja, IShowSpeed, Pokimane, Kai Cenat, and CohhCarnage as the faces of Twitch, which is a solid lineup if you ask me. Those are some seriously popular and influential names!

Dan Clancy admits to choosing Kai because “he asked”

The decisions sparked criticism from several streamers, like xQc, who wondered why names like Sodapoppin, Reckful, and his own hadn’t been included.

Clancy was questioned about the situation once more by Mizkif on October 10th, and he confessed that he had only picked Kai because AMP Star requested it.

So, someone was saying that while Kai’s a huge deal in the game right now, maybe he doesn’t *quite* deserve to be considered one of the all-time greats just yet. Apparently, he asked to be included, which is cool, but it’s like, ‘Yeah, you’re awesome, but you need a bit more history to be up there with the legends.’

Clancy explained that a selection of only four isn’t enough, and acknowledged that no matter who is chosen, someone will likely be disappointed.

Sometimes it’s just hard to keep track of names. I originally said ‘Speed’ but meant ‘CaseOh.’ People on Twitter immediately jumped to the conclusion that I didn’t even know how many presidents are on Mount Rushmore, which is obviously not true – I do know that.
