A recent report is causing worry among fans, suggesting James Gunn might be removed from his position as co-head of DC Studios. But is there any truth to these claims?
James Gunn and Peter Safran have had a strong start leading DC, launching a fresh direction for the DC Universe with shows like Creature Commandos, Superman, and the second season of Peacemaker.
Critics loved all three films, and Superman was a major financial success, bringing in $615 million globally. As the first film in the rebooted DC Universe, it was a very promising beginning.
So with that in mind, is Gunn likely to get fired from the DCU? Probably not.
Is James Gunn getting fired from the DCU?

No, James Gunn isn’t getting fired from the DCU.
According to a report from Cosmic Book News, James Gunn could lose his position as co-chairman of DC Studios if Skydance Paramount acquires Warner Bros. The report suggests that Mike De Luca, currently Warner Bros. chairman, would then lead DC with a complete restart of its film and TV universe.
Bloomberg reported that Paramount made an offer to acquire Warner Bros. in October, but the offer was turned down.
On their YouTube show, The Hot Mic, reporters John Rocha and Jeff Sneider discussed a rumor and confirmed it wasn’t true. Jeff Sneider dismissed it, saying, “I think this is nonsense.”
Cosmic Book News doesn’t seem to have reliable sources or accurate information. Their recent claim that Paramount is going to buy Warner Brothers is way off – it’s simply not going to happen.

They proposed that Paramount’s bid for Warner Bros. is simply a tactic for both companies to artificially boost their stock prices – essentially, a deal made between wealthy individuals.
Rocha also noted that Warner Bros. has recently relaunched the DC Universe and is already planning a fresh start for the Harry Potter franchise. Therefore, rebooting the DCU again and reworking all the existing contracts wouldn’t be logical.
So no, it doesn’t look like Gunn is getting fired from the DCU.
While we wait for updates on the studio’s plans, you can explore the DCU movies and shows currently in the works, see a ranking of James Gunn’s films, and find out how the Peacemaker Season 2 finale hints at what’s coming for the DCU.
