It’s no secret that Assassin’s Creed Shadows might be coming to the next Nintendo Switch. Recent evidence appeared on a French retailer’s website, listing the game as available for the console, but the listing has since been removed.
On October 13th, Eurogamer noted that the retailer Auchan listed a version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the upcoming Switch 2. While a release date wasn’t provided, the listing revealed it would be a “Game Key Card” – a physical format that’s received criticism because the game data itself isn’t on the card and must be downloaded online.
In April, the website that rates games (PEGI) showed Assassin’s Creed Shadows was coming to the Switch 2. Then, in July, Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, hinted the game would also be released on other platforms. Assassin’s Creed Shadows was initially released in March for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Earlier this month, Ubisoft announced the creation of Vantage Studios, a new team dedicated to leading the development of popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. In related news, a recent report indicates Ubisoft cancelled a planned Assassin’s Creed game set during the American Civil War due to fears the subject matter would be too sensitive and potentially cause controversy.
