In this time, Apple created and launched 54 games for the iPod clickwheel. Without the dedication of game preservationists, these titles might have vanished into obscurity. It was a significant task to gather all these games, but now, thanks to their efforts, the entire collection of iPod clickwheel games has been successfully preserved.
According to Ars Technica, the founder of the iPod Clickwheel Games Preservation Project, known as Olsro, has successfully finished compiling the collection by locating a copy of Real Soccer 2009. The project involves finding individuals who still possess the original games saved on their iPods and transferring them into a Virtual Machine library for other iPod users to play at their convenience. Additionally, Olsro expressed joy that the completed project ensures that a piece of early 2000s history will endure forever.
The titles of the Virtual Machines can work with iPod Classic models ranging from 5G to 7G, iPod Nano versions 3G, 4G, and 5G. Olsro has provided comprehensive guidelines for downloading these Virtual Machines on GitHub. After following those steps, users should be able to play the titles on their personal iPods for enjoyment.
