Arc System Works now has a policy to protect its employees from online harassment and personal attacks on social media.
The latest update to Guilty Gear Strive, released on May 13th, included balance adjustments and fixed a glitch related to the character Happy Chaos.
Happy Chaos is a character who fights from afar using two pistols. After an update in April, players found a way to consistently trap opponents from across the entire screen – the furthest distance Happy Chaos can be from another character – making it very difficult for them to escape.
The discovery of this exploit caused a lot of online backlash, with many people concerned about how it might impact the fairness of Evo Japan. Interestingly, no players using the character Happy Chaos made it into the top eight finalists.
Shortly after, Arc System Works announced two new rules to protect its employees from online harassment.
Okay, I’m watching The Next Stage and I just saw that Arc System Works announced this is going to be a legal game at EVO Japan! Seriously?! I’m losing it, that’s amazing news!

Arc System Works prohibits “personal attacks” against staff online
So, with the latest Street Fighter 6 update, Arc System Works didn’t just tweak the characters. They also dropped a new ‘Customer Harassment Response Policy’ and a ‘Social Media Policy’. Basically, they’re laying down the rules for how we all behave online and how they’ll handle anyone who crosses the line. It’s good to see them taking that seriously.
The official Guilty Gear account on X announced these new policies to improve how they communicate with players and to shield their employees from harassment.
Our Customer Harassment Policy doesn’t allow any behavior that could be considered threatening, intimidating, or physically harmful. This also includes offensive comments – whether they’re insulting, discriminatory, sexually suggestive, or a personal attack – as well as any threats to someone’s safety or business.
Okay, so beyond the stuff already not allowed, they’ve added a few more things that’ll get you in trouble. Basically, you can’t spread lies online, violate someone’s privacy, or constantly ask for tons of help. And honestly, don’t go demanding apologies or money if you don’t have a good reason – that’s a no-go too. As a fan, I think this is pretty reasonable, honestly – keeps things respectful for everyone!
Thank you for your continued support of Arc System Works and our content. We’ve created policies to help us communicate better with you – a ‘Customer Harassment Response Policy’ and a ‘Social Media Policy’.

Breaking this policy could lead to players being banned from ArcSys services, their social media accounts being reported, and, in serious cases, legal prosecution.
Arc System Works’ social media rules don’t allow content that harms the reputation of the company, other users, or anyone else. They also prohibit behavior that’s considered disruptive or goes against accepted standards of decency, as well as any other actions Arc System Works considers unsuitable.
It’s not uncommon for game companies to address negative player behavior. For instance, in 2022, Respawn Entertainment had to publicly condemn harassment aimed at the developers of Apex Legends, making it clear they wouldn’t tolerate any threats against their team.
