Okay, so this is crazy. I’m hearing that finishing the 2026 World Cup sticker album is gonna cost, like, two grand! Seriously? Because of that, a bunch of fans are just making their own stickers to complete it. It’s a bit of a workaround, but honestly, I don’t blame them!
Every four years, when the World Cup happens, soccer fans worldwide get excited to collect new trading cards, stickers, and jerseys, adding to their collections.
For many football fans, collecting stickers is a long-standing tradition. It began with Panini stickers in 1970, coinciding with the World Cup in Mexico. But the upcoming 2026 tournament, featuring 48 teams, will require a much bigger collection – a total of 980 stickers to complete the book.
Okay, so I’ve been doing some research, and it looks like completing this book is going to be pretty expensive! The best-case scenario, if you get really lucky with the packs and can find all the rare stickers without too much trouble, is around $2000. And that’s without even trading with other collectors – if you need to trade, it could easily cost more!
TikTokers are printing out World Cup stickers instead
Because of this, some football fans have gone as far as creating and adding their own versions of the stickers to their collections.
Lots of videos have been shared online showing fans printing out complete sets of team stickers, and even the hard-to-find shiny badges.
Fans expressed disappointment and questioned the legality of the changes. One person said it felt like the enjoyment was lost, while another simply stated that it ‘ruins the fun.’
Often, you can get the book for free, with copies available at stores across the UK and Europe. There are also starter packs you can buy, which include extra sticker sheets.
If you do trade with collectors, then the book has been estimated to cost “£238-280” to fill.
If you landed a job with FOX Sports watching every World Cup game, you could easily afford to complete your collection – they’re paying someone $50,000 to do just that!
To celebrate the tournament, BuzzBallz has created special, limited-edition “SoccerBallz” flavors with football-themed can designs. These are expected to become collector’s items.
