Pokemon’s $200 book has already become the latest scalper target

A special, limited-edition Pokémon book, originally selling for over $250 in the UK, is already being resold online at a much higher price on eBay.

The Pokemon Center UK began taking pre-orders on May 12th for a special Deluxe Character Guide Limited Edition Box Set. This isn’t just a typical game guide; it’s being sold as a unique collector’s item to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon series.

This $250 set (which costs around £185) includes a certificate proving it’s genuine, plus two art prints from video games and two animation prints. It also comes with a special playmat for trading card games and includes notes written by Tsunekazu Ishihara, the President and CEO of The Pokémon Company.

If you were hoping to get the 336-page book detailing every Pokémon character, you might not be able to. It’s already sold out at some Pokémon Center UK locations, and people are already reselling it on eBay.

TopMob found the book for sale on eBay, with prices ranging from $349 to $500. However, these prices don’t include shipping, which costs an additional $30.

You can currently pre-order the limited edition Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide Box Set through Simon & Schuster.

The current price is $199.99, and items will ship on August 25, 2026. However, prices could differ depending on where you buy them.

If you don’t need all the extra features of the special edition, the standard edition is available for £50 (about $67). It includes the book itself, plus a bonus chapter featuring Legendary or Mythical content.

This year, the problem of reselling has gone beyond just Pokemon books. Some people even stole entire Target displays and resold them for huge profits. The limited-edition Pokemon Pop-Tarts were also quickly resold online, often for ten times their original price.
