LEGO is releasing its largest-ever Lord of the Rings set – a detailed model of Minas Tirith – on June 1st.
Minas Tirith is a huge, white city built into the slopes of Mount Mindolluin. It’s famous from the movie The Return of the King as the main location for the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, where Gondor makes its final defense against Sauron’s army.
This is a huge set, and LEGO has put a lot of effort into making it feel true to J.R.R. Tolkien’s story while also matching the look of Peter Jackson’s movies.

LEGO LOTR’s Minas Tirith is over 8,000 pieces
The set includes a variety of minifigures – Aragorn, Arwen, Faramir, Pippin, Denethor, and four soldiers from Gondor – to stay faithful to the original story. Gandalf the White and his horse, Shadowfax, are also included.
If you buy the LEGO set between June 1st and 7th, you’ll also receive a free Grond battering ram from Mordor, according to Jay’s Brick Blog.
The impressive Minas Tirith LEGO set, with over 8,200 pieces, will cost $649.99. LEGO Insiders members can buy it starting June 1st, and it will be available to everyone else on June 4th.

This Lord of the Rings set isn’t just the biggest one ever made from that franchise – it’s also the sixth-largest LEGO set of all time, surpassing the Millennium Falcon in size. The Star Wars Death Star remains the biggest overall, with a little over 9,000 pieces.
This Lord of the Rings LEGO set is incredibly impressive, and it’s hard to imagine future sets being better. However, with a new movie coming out next year, ‘The Hunt for Gollum,’ there’s a chance it could introduce something that rivals or even surpasses the amazing Minas Tirith set.
