Sega officially cancels “Super Game” project after years of hype

Sega has cancelled “Super Game,” the game they were planning to release this year, after announcing disappointing financial results.

Man, Sega’s been on a roll lately! Games like Bayonetta, the remake of The House of the Dead 2, and the Yakuza series have been huge hits. I’ve been really enjoying what they’ve put out, and honestly, I’m super excited to see what they’re working on next. They’re really delivering for us gamers!

I was so excited when Sega first announced “Super Game” back in 2021! They really hyped it up as something huge – a game that would be massive worldwide, different from anything we’d seen before, and build a whole community around it. But sadly, it looks like that’s not going to happen. Sega just officially cancelled it, and honestly, I’m pretty disappointed.

Sega scraps Super Game in financial presentation

Sega announced during its recent financial presentation that it’s canceling “Super Game.” This decision comes after disappointing results from their free-to-play games, particularly “Sonic Rumble Party.”

Sega clarified that canceling the project won’t incur any extra expenses. Instead, about 100 people who were working on Super Game are now helping to develop core Sega franchises.

Super Game was shrouded in mystery, but the company CEO revealed in their annual report that it was a massive investment – potentially costing up to 100 billion Yen – and promised it would significantly change the gaming world.

Despite the ambitious plans for ‘Super Game,’ Sega seems to be prioritizing updates and expansions to their existing popular games right now. Thankfully, we can still anticipate a new version of ‘Crazy Taxi’ sometime down the line.
