A Pokémon fan traded in their sports car for a huge collection of Pokémon Trading Cards, valued at about $140,000.
I was totally blown away by this trade I saw online! This guy, Geoff Pritchett, actually traded his Audi R8 – yeah, a real sports car! – for a huge Pokemon card collection. It wasn’t just any collection either; it included sealed packs and individual cards going all the way back to the Sun & Moon series. Seriously, can you believe that?
The Sun & Moon block, named after the games of the same name, was printed between 2017 and 2019.
Collector says deal included $75K in sealed products
“Finally closed the deal, trading my R8 for a huge Pokemon collection,” the post read.
The collector explained that the exchange involved approximately $75,000 in unopened Pokemon trading card game packs, plus an additional $65,000 worth of individual cards.
The price of a used Audi R8 can change a lot, from around $40,000 to $160,000, depending on how well it’s been maintained, how many miles it has, and the specific model year. The seller hasn’t provided enough information to know which R8 model it is or what condition it’s in.
The collection mostly featured cards and items from the Sun & Moon series of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. These older products are becoming more valuable and sought after because they’re increasingly hard to find.

The Pokémon sets from the Sun & Moon collection are no longer being printed. They were replaced in 2019 by sets featuring Pokémon from the Sword & Shield games.
The user mentioned they still had a lot of work to do to review and organize everything after the deal was completed, and they intended to share a video about the exchange.
The post included pictures of the Audi R8 that was traded, along with many unopened Pokemon packs and boxes for storing cards.
Pokemon cards, especially older and rare ones, are selling for increasingly high prices. This trend has been growing recently, with sealed boxes of cards and individual rare cards – even from the latest sets like Scarlet & Violet – commanding significant amounts of money.
Although this sale isn’t as impressive, Logan Paul previously sold a rare Pikachu Illustrator card for millions in February. New Pokémon card sets are incredibly popular, and fans will often go to great lengths to be among the first to buy them.
