How much jail time is Clavicular facing after Florida alligator shooting? Charges explained

Clavicular, a popular streamer, could face up to a year in jail after being accused of shooting at an alligator during a livestream in the Florida Everglades. The video went viral, leading to the charges.

Braden Eric Peters, who goes by Clavicular online, was being investigated by Florida wildlife officials after a video from a live stream on March 26th became popular online. The video showed Peters and a group shooting at an alligator from an airboat.

According to the Miami New Times, court documents reveal that Peters was charged on April 29th by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office with illegally firing a gun in a public area – specifically, on a public road, street, or near occupied buildings.

Streamer Clavicular was reportedly arrested by Fort Lauderdale police after allegedly shooting at a deceased alligator in the Everglades.

The incident reportedly occurred at a boat ramp dock within the Francis Taylor Everglades Wildlife Management Area in Miami-Dade County, according to court documents. Those documents also identify Andrew Morales, a streamer known as Cuban Tarzan, and Yabdiel Anibal Cotto Torres as the individuals involved.

Clavicular faces up to one year in jail

Peters is facing a first-degree misdemeanor charge in Florida. According to the Miami New Times, this offense – recklessly firing a gun – could result in up to a year in jail, a year of probation, and a $1,000 fine.

The warrant for Peters states the charge is “Reckless Discharge of a Firearm” and sets bail at $1,000.

A court hearing is currently scheduled for May 20, according to Miami New Times.

According to his lawyers, Steven Kramer and Jeffrey Neiman, the charge against Peters arose from simply following the directions of a professional airboat guide.

They explained that he followed their advice, and assured everyone that no one was hurt during the incident. They believe that when all the details are known, people will understand the situation clearly.

The accusation stems from a March livestream by Clavicular, during which he and others encountered what seemed to be an alligator in the water. While live, Peters reportedly asked if they could shoot the animal to confirm if it was deceased.

When someone else started shooting, Peters joined in, firing at the animal as well. He then commented, “I think it’s dead now.”

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) had previously stated they were investigating a video showing people on an airboat in the Everglades seemingly shooting at an alligator.

This latest case is different from the one that led to Clavicular’s arrest in Fort Lauderdale in March. He was arrested then for simple battery related to an earlier incident that happened in Osceola County.
