Video from a police body camera has been released, showing the arrest of TikTok personality Heston James, who could face up to 20 years in prison.
Heston Cobb, a 21-year-old known as Heston James on TikTok, was arrested on July 23, 2025. Police say he filmed himself causing trouble at local businesses by pretending to be an employee, and then posted the videos online.
A popular video showed actor Tyler Posey, disguised as a mechanic at Hyland Auto Repair, announcing he was “from corporate” right before a group of friends showed up and playfully pretended to work under customers’ vehicles. The video quickly gained over 12 million views.
I heard Cobb and his team pulled off some crazy stuff at a bunch of different places! Apparently, they weren’t just hitting up Target – they also went to Pep Boys, Big Brand Tire, Jiffy Lube, Hyland Auto Repair, and even Chipotle. The story is they’d dress up like employees to get into back rooms and areas where customers aren’t supposed to go.
On May 1st, the YouTube channel EWU posted police bodycam video showing officers responding to the incidents and arresting the person responsible for the pranks.

Police find business uniforms and journal while arresting TikTok prankster Heston James
In the video, police arrived at James’ home with a warrant and told him to step outside.
As soon as he walked outside, authorities immediately arrested him, placing him in handcuffs and filing several charges. They then searched his home for evidence.
The police search revealed Meta AI glasses, along with uniforms from companies like Target, Home Depot, Amazon, and UPS.

Investigators found a journal thought to belong to Heston, detailing his plans for prank videos and outlining his ambitions, such as gaining a million followers.
Heston James now faces 20 years behind bars after viral TikTok pranks
Cobb initially faced thirteen criminal charges. These included burglary, two counts of pretending to be someone else, five counts of disruptive behavior, and five counts of illegally entering property.
Court records in Maricopa County show the initial charges have been changed, and now carry the potential for a longer prison sentence.
Court documents show Cobb is now charged with multiple offenses: three counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of pretending to be someone else, five counts of disruptive behavior, and two counts of second-degree criminal trespass.
If found guilty on all charges under Arizona law, Cobb could potentially face over 20 years in prison with the maximum sentences served one after the other. However, it’s unlikely he would actually receive the full 20+ year sentence.
Each of the three burglary charges is a serious felony, and a first-time offender could face up to 3.75 years in prison for each count. If found guilty on all three charges and given the maximum sentence for each, Cobb could be in prison for as long as 11.25 years just for the burglaries.

Kick star Adin Ross had previously revealed he intends to help James by paying for his legal fees.
In an August 2025 broadcast, Ross stated he would help Heston, despite the significant legal costs. He mentioned his lawyer was willing to take the case, and expressed confidence they could secure Heston’s release. Ross admitted the fees would likely reach six figures, but felt compelled to help because Heston is young.
So, it looks like Ryan Cobb’s court case is scheduled for July 2026, and honestly, it’s a bit worrying. It seems like more and more content creators are getting into legal trouble for what they’re putting out there, and it’s making me think twice about my own stuff.
