GGMods Modathon Spring Cleaning Submissions Open

The second-to-last part of the GGMods modathon is happening now, and I think it’s the best one so far! (Though I might be a little biased.)

We’re now accepting entries for the Spring Cleaning theme of the Modathon, which we announced last month when the portal launched. Submissions are due by May 4th. While many expected a Star Wars theme next, the fairycore community moved faster to request it!

The Spring Cleaning theme is mainly for mods that make the game better by fixing problems, improving how it plays, or adding spring-related content. I personally get more excited about a mod that finally fixes a long-standing issue than one that just adds seasonal decorations, but that’s just my opinion.

However, the modathon website states that the listed themes are just ideas – you can still win as long as you create and submit brand new, original mods.

What is the GGMods Modathon?

The GGMods Modathon is a special event running from April 13th to May 11th, held to celebrate the website’s beginning.

People who create modifications for games can share their work on the site and potentially win prizes, from $50 Steam gift cards up to $1000 in cash.

This modathon is focused on five titles:

  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • The Sims 4
  • Stardew Valley

Prizes are given out separately for each game, so your best Stardew Valley farms won’t be judged against creations from games like Fallout, and vice versa.

Okay, so the ‘Spring Cleaning’ theme is all about mods that just make the game better – things like fixing annoying bugs, adding little quality-of-life improvements, or just anything that feels spring-y! Basically, it’s about polishing up the experience, not huge overhauls.

Each week, our judges will pick the mod that best fits the theme for each game, and its creator will receive $100. The most popular mod (based on downloads) for each game will earn a $50 Steam gift card. At the end of the event, the most downloaded mod for each game will be eligible for a $1000 grand prize.

To qualify, mods must be original – meaning they weren’t released anywhere outside of GGMods before April 13th. They also need to be completely created by humans; anything made with AI won’t be accepted. GGMods is emphasizing the importance of human creativity with this rule, aiming to ‘keep the focus on the human side of creation’.

You’re welcome to work in teams and submit multiple entries, as long as they meet the requirements. We also allow submissions with mature content, but please be sure to label them appropriately.

Right now, Snotra902’s Sanrio Set is the most popular creation on The Sims 4, with Hera_Sims’ iPhone mods coming in a close second. On Skyrim, ColdSun’s Foundation – Faces for NPCs is leading by a wide margin.

In the Fallout 4 modding community, KCisSICKnasty is currently the top-ranked creator. Similarly, MAC-TEN’s fix for mesh and collision issues significantly surpasses any similar mods available for Fallout: New Vegas.

Okay, so over in Stardew Valley, Airyn’s TV Shopping Network stream is totally dominating right now – it’s bringing a ton of people over to check out the game, which is awesome! It’s really cool to see that classic Harvest Moon vibe still going strong.
