Okay, so this is wild! I saw a story about a 14-year-old kid in China who tried to build a turbo engine inside his house – his parents’ living room, to be exact! It didn’t exactly work out, but the fact he even tried is amazing. He’s gone viral because of it, even though it was a ‘failed’ project, it’s still super impressive!
It’s normal to not know what you want to be when you grow up. But some kids have a clear idea of their future and a plan to get there.
Che Jingang, a 14-year-old from Hainan Island, China, has become popular on Chinese social media. He’s being called a ‘young master’ because he’s exceptionally skilled in both academics and engineering.
According to the South China Morning Post, Che has sparked debate online after building a turbo engine by hand in his parents’ living room.
14-year-old responds to critics of viral projects
I was so amazed to read about this 14-year-old! Apparently, his mom helps him manage his social media, and he actually built a tubo engine at home – everyone started calling him “rocket boy”! The South China Morning Post reported that his first try didn’t quite work, but still, how incredible is that?
I was really fascinated to hear the creator of this engine say that the whole point for them was just learning – and they definitely did! They also said something I totally agree with: it’s okay to stumble, because that’s what pushes you to keep going and try again. It’s a great attitude, honestly.
Some people have questioned Che’s physical development, suggesting his father may have assisted him. Che, who is 14 years old, has since addressed these criticisms.
He acknowledged that people often doubted him, but said he just needed to concentrate on improving his skills and proving himself through his work.

According to the South China Morning Post, the 14-year-old is receiving a lot of online support, even though some people doubt him. Many are encouraging him to continue his efforts.
Although Che’s creations are gaining recognition, they haven’t become as popular online as the work of Chinese tech YouTuber 小宁子 XNZ, who famously combined a PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X into a single gaming console.
The project began in November 2025 and quickly gained popularity online starting in early 2026, and it continues to be a topic of conversation today.
