New Avatar 3 Clip Reveals the Sully Family’s Big Mistake

Avatar: Fire and Ash’s initial preview showed Jake Sully forming a new partnership with the Wind Tribe and the surprising attack by Varang and the Mangkwan Clan (also known as the Fire Na’vi). After the impactful conclusion of Avatar: The Way of Water, the next movie promises even greater challenges as the growing tension between Jake Sully (and his family) and the humans of the Research Development Administration (RDA) takes center stage once more. This time, a new tribe, the Mangkwan Clan (also called the Ash People), joins forces with the humans, potentially creating more difficulties for Jake and those who support him.

Promotion for Avatar: Fire and Ash is gaining momentum, with a strong emphasis on the new Fire Na’vi antagonists and what sets them apart from other Na’vi clans-specifically, their separation from the natural world. Although the full story behind the Fire Na’vi remains untold, a recent clip offers a preview of their aggressive tendencies.

As a huge fan, I was so excited to see Avatar: The Way of Water back in theaters! But the best part? They showed us a first look at Avatar: Fire and Ash! It was an official clip, and we finally got to see the Fire Na’vi – they looked amazing! I can’t wait to see more.

The scene opens with the Sully family and Spider traveling on the large, jellyfish-like creatures known as the Windtraders. They are accompanied by Peylak, played by David Thewlis, who leads the Tlalim Clan. This footage shows that Jake Sully has formed a new alliance with the Windtraders, though the specifics of their collaboration remain a mystery.

Things were going smoothly until Varang and her Mangkwan Clan attacked the Sullys and the Windtraders. This seems to be a major error for the Sullys in Avatar: Fire and Ash, as they weren’t ready for the ambush. The attack also caught them off guard, happening within the Wind tribe’s territory – the mountains of Pandora.

Jake tells Lo’ak to remain on the ship and care for his sisters, Kiri and Tuk, while he and Neytiri assist the Wind tribe in protecting their land from the Ash people. This leads to a large-scale aerial battle involving the Wind Tribe, Jake, and Neytiri, creating complete chaos in the sky. The battle is particularly intense.

Despite being told not to, Lo’ak disobeys and chooses to participate in the fight. Unfortunately, his communication device is damaged when a Fire Na’vi destroys the medusoid creature with a flaming arrow.

The scene concludes with Neytiri eliminating multiple Fire Na’vi soldiers, foreshadowing her upcoming confrontation with Varang.

This is one of three short scenes featured in the re-release of Avatar: The Way of Water, which begins in the United States on October 3, 2025. In other countries, such as the Philippines, screenings of Avatar 2‘s special re-release have already begun, including a surprise introduction from director James Cameron, starting on October 1, 2025.

One of the most anticipated sequels of 2025, Avatar: Fire and Ash, features many of the original cast members from the first two films. Leading the ensemble are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Jack Champion, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 19, 2025.

Why the Sully Family Is In Big Trouble in Avatar 3

Avatar: Fire and Ash‘s newest preview showed just how dangerous and strategic the Fire Na’vi will be. Their willingness to act rashly and their determination to attack the Sully family demonstrate they won’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to get rid of them.

The Sully family needs to be extra careful in the next movie to avoid repeating errors, especially since they’ve already suffered the loss of their oldest son, Neteyam, in Avatar: The Way of Water.

Even though Jake and Neytiri were caught off guard during the ambush by the Mangkwan Clan, they were still able to defend themselves and eliminate several members of the Ash people. However, the situation is worsened by the fact that some of the Wind Traders were killed in the fighting.

We still don’t know exactly why the Fire Na’vi are targeting Jake and his family, but it might be related to their surprising partnership with Colonel Quaritch.

Perhaps the Sky People made a deal with Varang, potentially promising them more land once humans fully control Pandora. This might be the reason Varang is leading the assault on the Sully family, with the clear goal of eliminating them.

Additionally, Lo’ak’s continued disobedience of his father is significant, particularly considering how a similar act resulted in his brother’s death in The Way of Water. However, this might be explored further in Fire and Ash, especially since director James Cameron has confirmed that Lo’ak will serve as the narrator for the next film.
