Okay, so this is wild. Lisa Kudrow recently shared that being in the Friends writers’ room was actually pretty rough. She said it was mostly guys, and they’d stay up late just…talking about their, uh, fantasies involving Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. Seriously, it sounds like a really uncomfortable environment, and she described it as ‘brutal.’
Please be advised that this article discusses sensitive topics, including sexual harassment, which may be upsetting to some readers.
Even though Friends stopped airing in 2004, it remains incredibly popular and continues to earn its six main actors about $20 million annually from streaming and television reruns.
However, the show has also faced internal issues, including a 2002 harassment claim filed by a writer’s assistant named Amaani Lyle. The claim involved inappropriate discussions of sexual acts within the writers’ room.
Despite losing his legal battle, Lisa Kudrow, known for her role on Friends, recently shared details about the show’s demanding environment during its creation.
Lisa Kudrow says Friends writers discussed “sexual fantasies” about cast

Lisa Kudrow is known for her role as Phoebe Buffay on the TV show Friends, where she starred alongside David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, and Matthew Perry.
The show was recorded in front of a live audience, and the actress explained that this added pressure because the writers were present. Kudrow shared with The Times that if an actor misread or didn’t get the desired reaction for a writer’s line, the writer might react harshly, even saying something like, ‘Can’t she even read? She’s not putting in any effort. She messed up my line!’

Kudrow recalls the male writers on the show would often stay up late talking about their attraction to Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. She described the conversations as very intense.
She admits it was a tough situation, but the writers – primarily men – worked incredibly late nights to create the show. Because of their dedication, she didn’t care if they talked about her negatively, figuring it meant they were focused on the work and her opinion didn’t matter.
You can currently watch Lisa Kudrow in the third season of The Comeback on HBO Max, the same streaming service that carries the show Friends.
