Toyota launches $3,000 desk chair built from real luxury car seat

Toyota has transformed the driver’s seat in one of its high-end cars into a comfortable, adjustable office chair, featuring heating, cooling, and power controls.

The “Crown Seat Desk Chair,” created jointly by Toyota Boshoku and Itoki Corporation, brings the comfort and technology of car seats into homes and workplaces.

This top-of-the-line product brings luxury seating to the Toyota Crown, offering features you’d usually find in more expensive cars. It includes power-adjustable reclining, lumbar support, and tilt, all powered by its own internal battery.

It’s also designed with comfort in mind for extended use, making it great for long gaming sessions – if it fits your budget.

Currently, this chair is listed for ¥495,000 in Japan, which translates to about $3,098. This price places it among the most expensive gaming and office chairs available. For that price, you get a sophisticated heating and cooling system – it’ll keep you warm in the winter and cool during the summer.

The Crown Seat, as described in a recent announcement, features three adjustable warmth settings. It’s designed to comfortably warm the back and lower back – areas that often become strained during extended sitting – providing cozy comfort year-round.

The chair uses suction – not for anything unusual! – and also helps keep you cool. It has vents in the backrest that pull heat away, which would be really useful during intense gaming sessions like Call of Duty when you start to sweat.

You can even charge your devices with a USB-C port built right into the seatbelt buckle. It’s handy for when you want to step away from the main screen, and keeps your phone powered up for social media, videos, and staying connected.

While often overlooked, the chair’s armrests and height are designed for comfortable office work. It’s so comfortable, you could easily relax or even nap in it.

Pre-orders started on April 23, 2026, at a few stores in Japan, but supplies were limited. If this $3,000 chair is outside your budget, there are many excellent gaming chairs available at lower prices.
