MrBeast is involved in a legal battle with a Canadian production company regarding his show, Beast Games. He’s claiming $5 million in damages, but the company has filed a countersuit in response.
So, I was reading Toronto Life, and apparently MrBeast – Jimmy Donaldson – is actually suing a production company here in Toronto called MHQ. They were brought in to help film the first season of that huge Amazon Prime competition show he did, and something went wrong. It sounds like a messy situation!
The disagreement involves a $5 million payment made to MHQ when filming first began. Donaldson’s company is seeking a refund, arguing that the original plans for the production were altered.
Just a week after receiving payment, MrBeast’s company reportedly planned to shift production from Ontario to Atlanta, which meant ending their work with MHQ. However, they supposedly changed their minds the next week when they realized the Atlanta location wasn’t suitable.
At that point, MHQ supposedly declined an opportunity to continue working on the project. Donaldson’s team says they then had to completely redo the filming in Toronto.

MHQ has responded by filing its own lawsuit, stating it deserves the payment. The company claims it had already started working on the project, dedicating resources and spending money in preparation.
According to a Toronto Life report, MrBeast’s team believes MHQ didn’t accurately track the costs related to the payment, but MHQ disagrees with that assessment.
MHQ essentially developed the plan that allowed the show to run smoothly, according to MHQ.
A representative for MrBeast declined to comment on the lawsuit.
MrBeast’s ‘Beast Games’ was his most ambitious project yet, featuring a huge competition with thousands of players battling it out for a big cash prize. Created for Prime Video, the show was promoted as one of the biggest competition series ever produced.

Beyond the issues with MHQ, the show has also been involved in a lawsuit. In 2024, several contestants filed a case against MrBeast, Amazon, and the show’s production team, claiming they were mistreated during filming. Their complaints included dangerous working conditions, inadequate medical attention, and not receiving full payment for their work.
MHQ feels it’s been wrongly linked to Beast without receiving any of the benefits it deserved for its contributions to the production, such as financial compensation or a producer credit.
MrBeast’s team responded to concerns about the production by explaining that some problems were caused by difficulties with planning, bad weather, and a failure with CrowdStrike’s services.
Although Season 3 of Beast Games hasn’t officially started filming, fans can now choose one competitor from each country to participate when it does.
