YouTube users are getting frustrated with the growing number of ads, especially those they can’t skip. Recently, YouTube has started showing ads during live streams, within YouTube Shorts, and even on the subscription page.

According to 9to5Google, these in-stream ads were first announced in 2025 and began limited testing a few months ago. Now, they’re being released to a wider audience.

These ads appear alongside the content you’re watching, making your video smaller on the screen and interrupting what you’re trying to watch.

Someone noted that while the video is currently blocked, this update appears to be expanding the restrictions to include the chat as well.

Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter about the new Twitch ads. Some people think they‘re actually less annoying than before, which is wild. One viewer explained that if you’re watching on your TV, the ads pop up with the stream, and even turn the stream’s volume down so you can hear the ad. But honestly, a lot of us just think YouTube and Twitch are getting way too clever with these ads, and yeah, most people just agree: ads are the worst!
