It’s no surprise that great movies and shows sometimes get lost in the vast amount of content available. Fortunately, when actors become popular with new work, people often rediscover their older projects. This can lead to viewers finding hidden gems on streaming services, where many shows remain overlooked despite being worth watching.
Timothy Olyphant is gaining a lot of attention right now, so it’s a good time to revisit a lesser-known HBO miniseries he starred in. Though it didn’t get much buzz when it came out in 2023, it’s a fast-paced thriller you can easily watch in a single day – and it offers a different kind of suspense than typical HBO thrillers.
Full Circle Is a Compact Thriller Perfect for a One-Day Binge
Full Circle tells the story of how the lives of different people become connected following a failed kidnapping. The series explores the surprising ways these seemingly unconnected individuals are linked through the aftermath of the crime.
The central source of drama often comes down to unanswered questions. Viewers are kept guessing about what will happen next, and with so many different plots happening at once, answers are frequently delayed. However, these pauses are usually brief, as the story shifts to follow another character for a while.
As a critic, I’ll say this: if you’re already a Timothy Olyphant fan, Full Circle gives him plenty of room to shine as Derek Browne. He definitely brings people to projects, especially ones that maybe didn’t get the attention they deserved initially. But honestly, the real draw isn’t just Olyphant – the whole cast is incredibly talented, and everyone delivers a strong performance that really pulls you in.
Even though some people find the writing and multiple storylines confusing until the end, the actors delivered strong performances.
Why Full Circle Was Overlooked
It’s easy for shows to get missed, and Full Circle probably got lost among HBO’s other programs. Thrillers generally come in two types: fast-paced, action-packed shows, or slower-burning shows that build suspense gradually.
HBO is known for its fast-paced thrillers, but Full Circle is different. As a limited series, it avoids feeling drawn out. The show efficiently weaves together several storylines over its few episodes, leading to a rewarding conclusion.
Having storylines that initially seem disconnected can cause viewers to stop watching a show or not even try it. However, a concise length, the quality of True Detective, a strong cast, and a realistic, engaging plot can keep audiences hooked without feeling like the story drags on.
This thriller isn’t typical for HBO, and that’s actually a good thing. Streaming services shouldn’t offer only one type of show. With so much content available now, it’s both easier to discover great new shows and easier for them to get lost in the crowd.
These days, many people prefer to watch entire seasons of shows at once. So, discovering a truly great series like Full Circle – one you can finish in a single day – is a real treat.
