Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 6
Things just got very complicated for Matt Murdock and Karen Page in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. This dramatic shift in their relationship could potentially pave the way for another couple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reconnect down the line.
I’ve been watching Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and it’s been amazing to see Matt and Karen team up to fight back against Mayor Fisk and his task force. They’re really working to build a resistance, and even though they’re on the run, they’re living together and clearly care deeply for each other. But honestly, things got really complicated between them in the latest episode, number 6. Their relationship definitely took a hit, and I’m worried about where things are headed.
With the stakes getting higher and more characters facing danger, it appears the Marvel Cinematic Universe is planning a significant romantic development for Daredevil. This twist could dramatically change his personal life, and it seems to revolve around a growing disagreement between him and Karen about how to finally stop the cycle of violence and loss that has plagued them since the beginning of the original Netflix series.
Daredevil & Karen Have Become Very Divided In Born Again Season 2
The latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again highlights the core conflict between Matt Murdock and Karen Page: Daredevil’s unwavering stance against killing. Murdock consistently chooses to believe in mercy and the possibility of redemption, preferring to work within the legal system even when pursuing justice.
Karen Page’s involvement isn’t what it used to be, especially after what happened in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 6. This change is mainly because so many of her friends and allies have been hurt or killed while Wilson Fisk and Bullseye continue to operate freely.
Karen doesn’t just warn Matt that their conflict with Fisk could end in someone’s death—she immediately demonstrates how far she’s willing to go by holding a gun to Bullseye’s head. This is especially striking considering Daredevil recently spared Bullseye’s life, a surprising act of compassion given all the suffering Bullseye has inflicted, particularly the murder of Foggy Nelson.
Okay, so things get intense when Karen tries to finish off Bullseye, and Daredevil has to intervene. But it’s not just a physical struggle – she actually pleads with Matt to let her do it, saying he’s constantly protecting the wrong people. It’s a really jarring moment, and when Matt asks her what’s gotten into her, she basically says she’s changed, she’s grown up. It’s clear a huge divide has opened up between them, and honestly, I don’t see how they can come back from this. It felt like a real breaking point for their relationship.
Things look bleak for Karen, as she’s taken into custody by the AVTF at the end of this episode, putting her in serious danger as we head into the final two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Is There Still Hope For Karen Page & The Punisher In The MCU?
Now that Karen and Matt Murdock have split, it makes you wonder if Frank Castle, the Punisher, could become Karen’s next love interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would be a surprising turn of events, but not entirely unbelievable.
While The Punisher won’t appear in the current season of Daredevil: Born Again, he played a significant role in the first season, challenging Daredevil with the same questions Karen Page now asks – specifically, how far is too far? Earlier this season, Karen even acknowledged that Frank Castle’s methods, though extreme, did get results. However, their complex history, established during the original Netflix Marvel series, adds a much deeper layer to their dynamic.
Frank and Karen shared a significant history and clear connection, first established in the Netflix series Daredevil and Punisher. Throughout those shows, Frank consistently showed more concern for Karen Page than anyone else. In a 2017 interview, actress Deborah Ann Woll revealed that she and Jon Bernthal both believed a romantic relationship between their characters could have developed during their time on Netflix. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe now focusing more on gritty, street-level stories, it’s possible we might finally see that happen.
As Karen and Daredevil grow apart in their beliefs, it’s starting to seem possible she could become involved with someone like Frank. This would be a significant change and likely spark a lot of debate among fans, though those who have always hoped for a relationship between Karen and Frank would be thrilled.
It’s hard to say what will happen in the last two episodes of this season, or even in the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again. But after the recent and serious falling out between Karen and Matt, it’s definitely fascinating to think about what might happen next.
Marvel Studios will release new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season two on Disney+ every Tuesday night.
