The first trailer is out for Star City, a new series connected to Apple TV+’s popular sci-fi show. Fans can expect the new show to premiere next month, and the trailer offers a first look at what’s in store.
The new series Star City will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, May 29th, with the first two episodes available right away. The season has eight episodes in total, and new episodes will be released every Friday until July 10th. You can watch the official trailer below.
Star City Further Explores the Space Race
Star City is a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller that revisits a pivotal moment in the history of the space race – when the Soviet Union first landed a man on the moon. However, this story is told from the Soviet perspective, focusing on the cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers who worked on the program and the sacrifices they made to advance space exploration.
Let me tell you, the cast of Star City is seriously impressive. You’ve got Anna Maxwell Martin, who I loved in Motherland, alongside rising stars like Agnes O’Casey from Black Doves and Alice Englert, fresh off Bad Behaviour. Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon), Adam Negaitis (Chernobyl), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright), Josef Davies (Andor), and Priya Kansara (Bridgerton) round out a truly talented ensemble. This group alone makes me excited to see what they do with the material.
Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore developed the For All Mankind spinoff. Wolpert and Nedivi are the showrunners, and they all executive produce the series along with Maril Davis from Tall Ship Productions, and Andrew Chambliss and Steve Oyster. Sony Pictures Television produces the show for Apple TV.
The Spinoff Finally Arrives After a 2-Year Wait
Apple TV+ first announced the show two years ago, alongside news of a fifth season for For All Mankind. Recently, it was announced that For All Mankind will conclude after its sixth season. However, if the new show, Star City, is successful, the overall franchise could continue beyond that, potentially leading to future seasons.
With each season of For All Mankind, interest in the Soviet space program has increased,” said the Star City team when the project was announced. “As we discovered more about this hidden city near Moscow – where Soviet cosmonauts and engineers lived and worked – we felt compelled to share their side of the space race. We’re thrilled to expand the show’s alternate history, working with Apple and Sony.”
Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, shared that each season of For All Mankind expands its captivating world and connects with viewers through its excellent storytelling, skillfully crafted by Ron, Matt, and Ben. He expressed excitement, along with their partners at Sony, to continue exploring the compelling For All Mankind universe in the next chapter.
