Fans of Marvel have been eager to see Oscar Isaac reprise his role. The actor first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe three years ago and has recently discussed potential future projects as the character.
Isaac recently discussed the possibility of reprising his role as Moon Knight during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He revealed that Marvel had considered a Midnight Sons movie, but those plans haven’t moved forward yet.
Oscar Isaac Confirms Midnight Sons Talks
Isaac shared that there was a compelling discussion about the Midnight Sons storyline. He emphasized its importance due to the serious and authentic themes it explores – dealing with difficult and challenging real-life issues. He expressed a lot of respect for the creative choices made in tackling such sensitive subjects.
The actor explained that even though the project is based on a comic book, it needed to be approached with genuine seriousness. He felt the show was successfully balancing those two aspects. Previously, he shared that he was drawn to Moon Knight because it offered a chance to deeply explore Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and create something truly meaningful. That potential for a special and serious portrayal was ultimately what motivated him to take the role.
Okay, so Marvel hasn’t officially said anything about a Midnight Sons movie yet, but the rumors have been swirling for a while. Oscar Isaac’s recent comments really seem to confirm it’s happening. There was talk that Michael Giacchino, who did a fantastic job directing the Werewolf by Night special, was going to be in the director’s chair, but nothing’s been officially confirmed on that front either.
Isaac has mentioned wanting Moon Knight to appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects before. He previously said he’d be excited to see a team-up with other heroes. When asked about the possibility of Ghost Rider (the Spirit of Vengeance) joining the MCU, Isaac enthusiastically urged Marvel to make it happen.
Where Else Has Moon Knight Appeared in the MCU?
The Disney+ series Moon Knight debuted in March 2022 and starred Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a mercenary who struggles with multiple personalities. The show’s six episodes follow Marc as he gets caught up in a dangerous mystery connected to Egyptian gods, navigating the complexities of his different identities, including Steven Grant and Jake Lockley.
Ever since the first season of Moon Knight ended, fans have been eager for more, especially after the introduction of Jake Lockley in the post-credits scene. However, despite the packaging for the 4K UHD version calling it “The Complete First Season” instead of “The Complete Series,” fans are still waiting for confirmation about a second season.
While Moon Knight has shown up in a couple of other Marvel projects – specifically, What If…? Season 3 and Marvel Zombies – those appearances are in separate universes. This means they don’t follow the story of the Moon Knight we met in the Moon Knight series. In fact, the Moon Knight in Marvel Zombies is actually a version of Blade, not Marc Spector.
Moon Knight is available to stream on Disney+.
