Since it came out in 2004, White Chicks has been a famously divisive movie. Despite the controversy, it’s gained a dedicated fanbase, and people have been hoping for a sequel for years. Now, it looks like the Wayans Brothers might actually be making it happen.

Marlon and Shawn Wayans are back together for the latest Scary Movie film, the sixth in the series. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, they shared their desire to make a sequel to White Chicks. While they’re enthusiastic about the idea, a new White Chicks movie will only happen if Scary Movie performs well in theaters when it comes out in June.

When asked about a possible White Chicks 2, Marlon said, “We’re in! If audiences want to see another funny movie, then I’m definitely on board with making it happen.”

Anna Faris, who starred in Scary Movie with the Wayans Brothers, mentioned that fans have been requesting a White Chicks sequel for over twenty years. The Wayans Brothers confirmed they’re often asked about a follow-up, noting that women, especially white women, seem to want it the most. Faris jokingly suggested using profits from Scary Movie to fund White Chicks 2, and Shawn Wayans responded that a sequel will definitely happen if Scary Movie performs well at the box office.

“If this movie does well, our White Chicks 2 can happen,” Shawn said.

White Chicks Has a Cult Following Despite Its Criticism

Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, White Chicks is a comedy starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans as two FBI agents who disguise themselves as white women to protect a pair of wealthy socialites from being kidnapped. While the movie made a lot of money – over $113 million on a $37 million budget – it received mostly negative reviews when it came out. It earned a low 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for several Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture. Some critics have also pointed out that the film’s use of disguise could be seen as insensitive.

Despite receiving criticism when it was first released, White Chicks has gained a dedicated following and become a beloved comedy. This has sparked renewed interest in a sequel, and the Wayans Brothers believe that the recent success of Scary Movie could provide the push needed to finally get White Chicks 2 into production, though it hasn’t been officially approved yet.
