After four seasons, The Lincoln Lawyer has found a way to move past the issues surrounding the character of Harry Bosch, even if the solution was a bit divisive. With Netflix and Amazon being rivals, it’s highly unlikely Amazon would ever allow Netflix to use Bosch, particularly since he’s still a key character in the Bosch universe. Unfortunately, a crossover just isn’t going to happen.
As viewers, we should be open to new ideas for the show. While Harry Bosch is irreplaceable, the legal drama has introduced a character who could become a key part of the future. The latest season of The Lincoln Lawyer reveals Mickey Haller has a previously unknown half-sister named Emi Finch.
The show’s introduction didn’t make it clear what role Emi will have in the upcoming season. While the final scene demonstrated her intelligence in finding her brother, and her quick thinking in sensing danger and protecting Mickey from the cartel, we still don’t know much about Cobie Smulders’ character and her overall storyline.
The show could have easily ignored Mickey’s sister, or downplayed her role, but instead, the creators are making her a key part of the series, upgrading her from a guest star to a regular cast member.
Although a sixth season of The Lincoln Lawyer isn’t confirmed, the actress’s continued role means she’d still be part of it if it happens. Recent announcements about season 5, made as filming began, also show she’ll be a key player in the story in multiple important ways.
Mickey’s Secret Sister, Emi, Will Catalyze The Central Case In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5
I’m so excited for season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer! It’s based on Resurrection Walk, and it looks like they’re really setting things up with someone close to Mickey Haller getting involved in his big new case. Basically, he’s taking on the challenge of proving a woman in prison is innocent – she says she didn’t commit the murder she was convicted of, and he’s going to fight for her.
Mickey is generally optimistic, but he needs proof before believing someone’s claim of innocence. He’s more likely to trust a case if a friend or family member vouches for the accused. In Michael Connelly’s book, detective Harry Bosch provides that evidence with a letter, persuading Mickey to take the case. In the TV series, the character Emi will serve that purpose.
She plans to ask him to review the case of a woman she knows who was convicted six years ago, and see if he can help get the conviction overturned. Because they’ve just started dating, I think he’ll be a bit doubtful at first. But he’s a family-oriented person, so it’s likely he’ll want to help his half-sister.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 Will Feature Family Drama & Mysteries
Season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer introduces a wrongful conviction case, but honestly, the real drama comes from the arrival of Mickey Haller’s half-sister, Emi. Her appearance completely shakes things up for him – it’s not just about the legal case anymore. He’s forced to confront a lot: his feelings about having a sister he never knew, the secrets surrounding her birth, and the complicated history of his family. It’s a deeply personal journey for Mickey, and it’s fascinating to watch him grapple with all of it.
Things get even more interesting with new additions to the Netflix legal drama’s cast: Patty Guggenheim as Allison Finch and Corbin Bernsen as Richard Finch. It’s currently unclear how Allison, Emi, and Richard Finch are related, but considering the actors’ ages, it seems likely that Emi and Allison are sisters, and Richard Finch is either their father or stepdad.
As a film fan, I’m already sensing things are about to get really complicated for Mickey! Dealing with a secret sibling, Emi, was tough enough, but now he’s got to navigate a whole family around her – Allison and Richard, specifically. It’s not just about accepting a new brother or sister; it’s about wondering if this entire family will even accept him. Talk about adding layers of stress!
Emi’s arrival will likely create the same kind of complications and uncertainty that Mickey Haller experienced when he first learned about Harry Bosch in the books. Hopefully, Emi and Mickey will eventually build a strong working relationship, similar to the bond between the brothers in the Lincoln Lawyer series. Regardless, it’s obvious they’re committed to making Emi a worthy successor to Harry Bosch.
