Fans have finally seen a sneak peek of the new Avatar: The Last Airbender animated movie, though it wasn’t quite the reveal they anticipated.
On April 12th, several posts appeared online claiming to show clips from the upcoming animated movie, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The scenes looked surprisingly well-made, leading some to question if they were real or created by fans using AI. However, the posts started being removed due to copyright claims, suggesting the clips were actually legitimate.

The new live-action movie, Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender, will continue the story of the beloved animated series. It’s scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026, and will catch up with Aang and his friends several years after the events of the original show, as they navigate life as young adults.
Although the characters in the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie are the same, the voice actors are different from the original series. Casting director Jenny Ju explained in May 2025 that the team prioritized finding actors whose ethnic and racial backgrounds aligned with their characters, reflecting a growing trend in voice acting. While the world of Avatar is fictional, it draws inspiration from various cultures, and they wanted to ensure representation from those communities.
I’ve been hearing about the live-action Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender series, and the cast is quite different from the original animated show. Eric Nam will be playing Aang, with Dionne Quan as Toph, Steven Yeun as Fire Lord Zuko, Jessica Matten as Katara, and Román Zaragoza as Sokka. The original series featured Zach Tyler Eisen, Jessie Flower, Dante Basco, Mae Whitman, and Jack De Sena in those roles. Plus, Dave Bautista, who’s really popular with fans, is set to voice the main villain!
In addition to a new animated movie, fans can also anticipate the release of the next animated series in the Avatar universe, titled Avatar: Seven Havens. This series takes place long after the events of The Legend of Korra and will center around a young Earthbender Avatar who must navigate a world that views her power as a burden instead of a gift.
Following the announcement, Jane Wiseman, Head of Original Series at the studio, shared that The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens mark an exciting new chapter for storytelling at Avatar Studios. These projects bring together a talented cast and crew to create the grand adventures and heartfelt stories that fans love. Along with The Legend of Korra and the original Avatar series, these additions establish Paramount+ as the ultimate home for all things Avatar.
Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender is currently slated to premiere on Paramount+ on Oct. 9, 2026.
