The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender reportedly leaks online months before release

Clips from the upcoming live-action Avatar movie, “The Last Airbender,” have appeared online on X (formerly Twitter), months before its expected release on Paramount+. The leaks began circulating on April 12th.

This movie marks the first big animated project from Avatar Studios, and it’s exciting that the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are involved. The story picks up after the end of the original series, showing Aang and Team Avatar as they continue their adventures, now older and more experienced.

Okay, so this project has had a bit of a rollercoaster ride already. It was originally supposed to hit theaters, but Paramount decided to release it on Paramount+ instead, and now it’s looking at a fall 2026 release. What’s even more interesting is that I’ve been seeing posts from the cast, like from Eric Nam, and they’re calling it Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender now, not The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. It seems like the title is changing too!

Okay, so this is crazy! Apparently, clips from the live-action Avatar movie, The Last Airbender, are floating around online. The person who leaked them says Nickelodeon totally messed up and accidentally emailed them the whole thing. I can’t believe it – I’m cautiously excited (and hoping it’s true!) to see some early footage.

Film leaks online via “emails”

After someone on X claimed Nickelodeon mistakenly sent them the entire movie, clips from it have appeared online. The leaked footage, lasting over three minutes, appears to show early versions of characters like Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko, and includes scenes with the new voice actors.

The videos had been online for almost 12 hours and had received over 100,000 likes. The person who posted them even said they would stream the entire movie live if Paramount didn’t release a trailer quickly.

So, the videos that first leaker posted? They’ve been taken down. Apparently, someone claimed copyright, and YouTube had to remove them. It’s a bummer, but not totally unexpected, I guess.

This has put fans in a difficult position, mainly because Paramount and Nickelodeon haven’t released much official footage from the movie yet. Beyond some merchandise and cast news, there’s been very little to see or learn about the project, even though it’s scheduled to come out in October 2026.

Eric Nam will play Aang in the new movie, alongside Steven Yeun as Zuko, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dionne Quan as Toph. Dave Bautista will star as the villain, and the cast also includes Taika Waititi, Ke Huy Quan, Freida Pinto, Geraldine Viswanathan, Peta Sergeant, and Dee Bradley Baker.

It is currently expected to arrive on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026.
