For some time, there’s been talk about bringing back the Uncharted series, and a recent post might suggest it’s happening. Shaun Escayg from Naughty Dog shared a picture of a cannon at Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago, saying it was for “research“. Many fans believe this hints at a new Uncharted game, though it could also be a deliberate distraction or simply unrelated.
Another Uncharted game would be fantastic. It could revive the popular series from Naughty Dog, especially since The Last of Us doesn’t seem to be continuing anytime soon – at least not with the promised third game. Beyond a potentially great story, Uncharted 5 would be especially appreciated if it included a game mode that was notably missing from The Last of Us Part 2.
The Last Of Us’ Multiplayer Can Live Vicariously Through Uncharted
While The Last of Us Part 2 is remembered for its divisive story, many fans were even more upset by the lack of a multiplayer mode. Those who enjoyed the Factions multiplayer in the original The Last of Us were particularly disappointed that it wasn’t included in the sequel.
Honestly, it really stung when they canceled the online game for The Last of Us. As someone who was hyped for it, especially if you loved Factions, it feels like things just keep going wrong for fans of the series lately. It’s been a rough time, to say the least.
If a new Uncharted game is coming and will feature multiplayer, it could be a revival of the Factions mode. While it wouldn’t feel exactly like The Last of Us’ multiplayer unless Uncharted 5 takes a very different, darker turn, a new multiplayer experience from Naughty Dog would give fans of Factions something they’ve been missing.
An Uncharted Revival Has A Lot Of Weight On Its Shoulders
Honestly, it feels like it’s been ages since Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy came out, so I think a new Uncharted game would be incredibly welcome right now! I’m really curious to see who they’d make the main character – my money’s on Cassie, since the ending of A Thief’s End hinted at that – and I’m hoping they bring back multiplayer. That would be amazing!
Since The Last of Us Part 2 doesn’t have a multiplayer option, it’s uncertain if Uncharted 5 will either. However, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could easily include multiplayer, and a new Uncharted game would be great even if it didn’t.
