We don’t have a specific release date yet, but Ahsoka Season 2 is the next live-action Star Wars show planned. Details about the story are still being kept under wraps, but we’ve learned some interesting news about how it’s being made. Bryce Dallas Howard has confirmed she’s directing episodes for Ahsoka Season 2, and she shared four words to give us a hint of what to expect.
I’ve been following Howard’s work in the Star Wars galaxy for a while now, and she’s become a pretty familiar face. She’s directed episodes of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Skeleton Crew – a really impressive track record! Plus, she even *voiced* Yaddle in Tales of the Jedi. The Jurassic World actress recently shared details about her newest project for Disney+’s Star Wars offerings during a panel at LA Comic Con (as reported by Jason Delgado on the Red Carpet), and she described working on Star Wars as a genuine “joy” and “privilege.” Here’s what she had to say first:
I recently wrapped up filming two episodes for Season 2 of Ahsoka. Honestly, it’s fantastic! It’s visually stunning, incredibly exciting, full of adventure, and even has romantic elements. It really delivers everything you’d hope for in a grand, sweeping story.

‘It’s been a real pleasure’: the star of Ahsoka shared their thoughts on collaborating with Rory McCann, who took on the role of Baylan Skoll after the tragic passing of Ray Stevenson.
‘That Would Be Canon, Right?’: Skeleton Crew’s Ravi Cabot-Conyers is hoping for a crossover with Ahsoka, and he shared a great story about meeting Rosario Dawson.
That’s a great way to really get Ahsoka fans hyped for Season 2! The first season was special because it not only featured Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the older Ahsoka Tano – after she’d appeared in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett – but it also brought characters from Star Wars Rebels, like Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, into live-action for the very first time. In Season 1, Ahsoka and her friends worked to stop Thrawn from coming back and rebuilding the shattered Empire, years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
It’s not really a shock that Bryce Dallas Howard directed about a quarter of Ahsoka Season 2, given that her previous work in Star Wars has all been set during the New Republic time period. She also speaks very highly of Dave Filoni, who is Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer, the creator of Ahsoka, and an executive producer on those other series. Here’s what she had to say:
I’m a huge fan of Dave Filoni; I’d do absolutely anything for him and to work with him. He’s a truly exceptional leader with a great vision, and he’s also really funny – he clearly knows his stuff. So, I’ve just finished working on the edit, after a lot of effort.
As a big Ahsoka fan, I’ve been keeping track of what’s next, and Season 1 ran from August 22nd to October 3rd, 2023. So, I’m guessing we might see Season 2 around the same time next year. But, hearing that Bryce Dallas Howard is already working on editing her episodes? That really makes me hopeful we could get it even earlier in 2026! Right now, Ahsoka is the only live-action Star Wars TV show that’s officially confirmed, although we’re also expecting the animated series Maul – Shadow Lord and Star Wars: Visions Presents to drop next year as well. It’s a good time to be a Star Wars fan!
Great news for Star Wars fans! The animated series Visions will be back with Season 3 on October 29th, streaming on Disney+. And don’t forget that The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026. I’m curious to see when Season 2 of Ahsoka will air – will it come out before or after that film?
