This week on Rich Women Doing Things, the ladies continued their lavish lifestyle. At a party, they dramatically dove into the pool fully dressed, complete with full makeup and tons of hair extensions – amazingly, none of the clips got caught in the filter! They also confidently sported flashy, knee-high boots that looked surprisingly inexpensive, despite likely costing a fortune. And, determined to look youthful for their daughter’s wedding, they filmed scenes wearing face masks designed to keep their expensive salmon sperm facials intact – though the masks made them look strangely like their own twins.
The women on the show often behave as if an episode is the season finale, but it usually isn’t. It seemed like Rachel’s birthday party was intended to be the last one, but after a fight between Erika, Kyle, and Dorit in Italy, producers realized the drama was finally picking up. They extended filming for two more weeks hoping to create a more exciting ending to what had been a fairly uneventful season. Many scenes now feel like they’re meant to tie up individual storylines, which is typical for a finale. For example, Sutton has a conversation with her mother, Reba, about feeling lonely now that her children have left for college. Reba’s advice, as usual, is an odd mix of wisdom and harshness – like a luxurious candle that smells both soothing and painful. You could call it the ‘Reba’!
Boz’s engagement storyline is cute, but honestly, it feels pretty predictable. It seemed like she knew this proposal was coming – she got all dressed up for what was supposed to be a casual mother-daughter outing with Leal! As Paige DeSorbo would say, she went overboard with the outfit. Then, at the steakhouse, she’s greeted by Leal dressed like Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther (it was a great look!), surrounded by roses and all their loved ones. The strangest part was everyone immediately started filming with their phones, even though the Bravo cameras and a professional videographer were already there. It’s going to be a clip they can share forever. (Yes, I watch RHORI.) I just hope Keeley finds happiness with Boz and her family, and that the show can move past her fertility struggles next season. She and Leal are enough, and if he doesn’t understand that, he can take his sparkly jacket and go back to San Diego.
It looks like Kyle is moving past the events surrounding Alexia’s wedding and reflecting on a time when she was a young mother, didn’t care about how she appeared on TV, and wasn’t afraid to create conflict on the show. We probably won’t see the wedding itself, but this feels like a fitting conclusion to that storyline. Similarly, Rachel’s conversation at Dorit’s book party – where she discussed her ex, Rodger, his insensitive post to his new girlfriend shortly after Rachel’s birthday, and dismissed a stylist as a poor imitation – seems to be wrapping up her issues with him as well.
This isn’t the season finale, not with everything that went down at Rachel’s Studio 54 party. I’m talking about Natalie doing the splits – a move that Kyle Richards considers her signature! Kyle claims she’s legally protected it, even getting UNESCO to recognize it as a cultural treasure. It’s shocking, and makes you wonder what Natalie will do next. Actually, that’s why we haven’t seen much of Natalie this season. She’s had good conversations with the other women, a compelling personal story, and plenty of drama. But Kyle saw the splits, immediately FaceTimed Andy Cohen from the bathroom, and threatened to release compromising photos if he didn’t edit her out of the entire season. And those photos were pretty scandalous.
At the party, Dorit avoids both Kyle and Erika following their big fight in Italy. There’s an awkward scene where she approaches Erika and Boz, but sits a distance away and remains silent. Erika then signals the other women to join them, and they quickly ask some uninvolved guests to leave. Jen Tilly directly asks Dorit if she plans to speak with Kyle, but Dorit says she’s not up to it right now, as her daughter just started school. However, Dorit needs to address the situation soon, as this is the final party and time is running out – it’s now or never.
Sutton considers apologizing to Kyle for not speaking to her all week and trying to repair their relationship, but Dorit strongly objects. Dorit refuses to apologize, stating she doesn’t feel it’s necessary, and will only participate in a conversation if Kyle initiates it. While Dorit’s feelings towards Kyle are understandable, involving Sutton seems unfair. Dorit believes Sutton is too focused on getting Kyle’s approval. Dorit also feels Kyle is portraying herself as a victim and has turned everyone against her – Kyle, Sutton, and Erika, with Amanda also siding against her. This situation is a result of Dorit’s own actions, but she still has support from Boz and Rachel, who don’t seem to be taking sides with Kyle, suggesting things aren’t as dire as Dorit believes.
Sutton was upset by the interaction and decided to talk to Dorit about it. What followed was incredibly rude and insincere. Sutton politely asked to speak with Dorit, but Dorit responded dismissively, which is ironic considering the show revolves around exactly this type of conversation. Dorit claimed she was finally enjoying a genuine conversation with someone outside the cast. Sutton, surprised by this response, explained that she was hurt, which is a common theme on the show. Dorit has said similar things to others countless times, arguably more often than PK has… well, let’s just say a lot.
Dorit offered an apology that didn’t seem sincere. When Sutton pressed her on whether she was truly upset, Dorit simply repeated her apology, which felt dismissive. It was like offering someone something awful and then acting confused when they weren’t satisfied. Dorit seemed to be avoiding taking responsibility for her actions and instead tried to shift the blame. She asked Sutton what she could do to prove her remorse, but what Sutton really wanted was genuine regret or honesty. Instead, Dorit appeared to be provoking Sutton, being dishonest, and pretending to be considerate.
Sutton explained that for them to move forward, Dorit needs to allow her to express when she’s upset. Dorit responded by pointing out that Sutton did share her feelings and she apologized, then asked what else Sutton wanted. Honestly, that response felt insincere. Eventually, Dorit walked away, calling Sutton a “weirdo,” which was rude, but I’ve actually decided I love that insult and will probably use it a lot.
Dorit completely avoided addressing the issues at the party, which was frustrating. While an apology to Kyle and Erika wasn’t necessarily needed (though maybe to Erika), she didn’t even acknowledge what they were saying or try to resolve the conflict and wrap up the season. Instead, she just put it off, which only created more problems. The next event was the launch of the photo shoot for her book cover, which everyone jokingly dismissed as unimportant – because the book wasn’t even close to being finished, and Dorit is consistently late with her commitments. When only Rachel, Boz, Jen Tilly, Kathy, and Amanda showed up, Dorit seemed genuinely surprised that the people she’d upset weren’t there.
Sutton likely should have attended, but it’s understandable why she didn’t. Her mother is right – a quick appearance with a polite gesture would have been the mature thing to do, and she could have dealt with it later. However, the situation was incredibly harsh, and it’s hard to blame her for staying away. Kyle definitely made the right choice by skipping it, as it would have only escalated the conflict with Dorit. I thought Erika would show up after talking to Rachel, who predicted Dorit would be upset if she didn’t. But Erika intentionally went to Sutton’s instead, choosing to create drama and exclude Dorit. While we have a week before the full consequences play out, this finally gives us something substantial to discuss at the reunion after seventeen episodes.
