Arnold Schwarzenegger played a surprisingly long-running joke on WWE star The Big Show, and it went on for more than ten years.
Paul Wight, who many wrestling fans know as The Big Show, is one of the largest wrestlers performing today and currently wrestles for AEW.
The impressively tall actor, standing at 7 feet, has made a few appearances in films, including comedies like ‘The Waterboy’ with Adam Sandler and ‘Jingle All The Way,’ which also featured Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Wight shared that he and Arnold Schwarzenegger became close while filming a movie – close enough that they became friends. However, after the movie wrapped, Schwarzenegger played a huge prank on him.
Big Show reveals Arnold Schwarzenegger’s decade-long prank affected him mentally
Big Show remembered meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger again two years after they’d been in a movie together. However, Arnold didn’t seem to remember him at all, and simply introduced himself as, “Arnold Schwarzenegger, nice to meet you.”
As Big Show’s popularity continued to grow, he ran into Arnold Schwarzenegger again. Schwarzenegger, seemingly unaware of their previous encounter, simply said, “Arnold Schwarzenegger, nice to meet you.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger attended WWE Raw and tried to introduce himself, hoping to be recognized this time. However, the wrestler continued to act as if meeting him for the first time, saying, “Arnold Schwarzenegger, nice to meet you,” as if he didn’t remember him.
The same thing happened even when they were at Arnold’s gym – the very gym where Wight had his picture displayed.
“I was so upset,” Big Show commented. “Arnold was living in my head rent free.”
Arnold was scheduled to present an award, and WWE sent Big Show as their representative. Show was prepared for a possible conflict, stating he wouldn’t hesitate to react angrily if anyone tried to be overly polite or insincere with him.
Wight was deeply hurt that Schwarzenegger had forgotten him, feeling it showed he’d become insignificant, and it really bothered him.
During the award ceremony, Schwarzenegger began sharing anecdotes about The Big Show, mentioning their friendship and how they both appeared in the movie Jingle All The Way. As The Big Show walked on stage to accept his award, Arnold gave him a playful wink.
“He constantly got under my skin for twelve years!” the wrestler said. “That’s a testament to how great Arnold is… for twelve years, I couldn’t stop thinking about him.”
Although Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t often collaborate with wrestlers these days, he recently hosted a slap-fighting event with Logan Paul. He also mentioned to TopMob that he’d consider appearing in a film with Logan and his brother, Jake, in the future.
