The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its continuous expansion, with new movies and shows appearing in theaters and on Disney+. Fans who have followed the Marvel films in order have developed favorites, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is definitely one of them. The popular actress recently revealed a comic book storyline she’d love to see adapted, and it’s quite an ambitious idea.
Ever since Doctor Strange 2 ended with Wanda apparently sacrificing herself to destroy the Darkhold, fans have been curious about whether and when Elizabeth Olsen might return in future Marvel films. At a recent convention, as reported on Twitter, the His Three Daughters actress was asked what Marvel story she would still like to explore. She answered with:
I really love the House of M storyline. It’s hard to explain why it resonates with me, but it’s just incredibly engaging. Perhaps there are some fan theories or pitches available online that could help explain it. I think it would be a lot of fun to explore a story involving both the X-Men and Avengers, especially with the ‘no more mutants’ concept.
To be honest, this would be fantastic. The House of M storyline is incredibly well-known among Marvel comic book fans, and it showcases one of the most memorable (and frightening) demonstrations of power from The Scarlet Witch. Elizabeth Olsen has expressed a desire to say the line “no more mutants”, but it’s currently uncertain whether adapting that particular story would logically fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

If you’re not familiar, House of M is a comic book story arc that first appeared in 2005. It takes place in a different reality where mutants are the most powerful group, and Magneto and his family are in charge. This includes Scarlet Witch, who still has immense power but is also mentally unstable. A massive fight breaks out between heroes and mutants on the island of Genosha, where Wanda witnesses the death of her brother, Quicksilver. Overcome with anger and power, she declares “no more mutants,” which causes almost all mutants to lose their abilities. Ultimately, the mutant population plummets from millions to just a few hundred, and many popular characters, like Charles Xavier, lose their powers.
Here’s a quick summary of this story, which is quite complex and involves several universes. Elizabeth Olsen had mentioned wanting to see this particular comic storyline adapted, and many viewers believed WandaVision could have been based on House of M.

It’s currently unclear when Elizabeth Olsen will return as The Scarlet Witch in a theatrical Marvel film. Although she recently voiced Wanda in Marvel Zombies, her name was not on the initial cast list for Avengers: Doomsday. Kevin Feige has hinted that more cast members will be revealed, leading fans to speculate about Wanda’s potential return in the eagerly awaited film.
Elizabeth Olsen has stated she wasn’t in Doomsday. However, fans are still hoping she might appear in a future project. Perhaps a film or TV adaptation of House of M could convince her to join the cast.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18th of next year, as part of the 2026 film lineup. It remains to be seen whether Wanda Maximoff will appear in the movie.
