Costco is launching massive new gas stations with a twist

Costco is opening a standalone gas station, separate from its warehouses, and is aiming to quickly become a major player in the gas market.

Many people see a trip to Costco as more than just grocery shopping; it’s a chance to enjoy a hot dog and drink as a reward for stocking up on weeks’ worth of supplies. It’s a place where people really load up on everything they need.

But for many people, a Costco membership is all about saving money on gas – they can usually fill up their tanks for a lower price than at other stations.

The gas lines at Costco can get long due to the popularity of the store. To help with this, Kirkland Signature is planning to open gas stations in separate locations, not directly at their stores.

Costco launching massive solo gas stations in United States

Okay, so I just heard that Costco is starting to add gas stations to some of their stores! Apparently, they’re kicking things off with one in California, and hopefully they’ll be adding more across the US soon. That’s awesome news for us gamers who need to fill up before a long session!

The main drawback, besides the cost, is that you won’t be able to enjoy a hot dog or pizza at Costco after fueling up.

According to TheDrive, these locations won’t be full-sized Costco stores. You’ll simply be able to fill up your gas tank at one of the 40 pumps, pay, and leave.

The first location has opened in California, and another is planned for Hawai’i in 2027. The company is also considering opening a location in Michigan in the future.

Right now, it’s unclear if Costco plans to expand these gas stations beyond their current locations. This means customers outside of the US will still need to get their Kirkland Signature gas at their local Costco warehouse.

This isn’t the first time Costco has expanded beyond its traditional warehouse stores. The company is already planning to build an apartment complex in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles, directly above one of its existing locations.
