A new mom is becoming famous online after winning her local fighting game tournament – and she did it while holding her five-day-old baby! It’s an incredible feat that’s captured a lot of attention.
‘Legi0n’ is a 3D artist and a mother who enjoys playing fighting games when she can. She fits in gaming sessions between her work and caring for her baby daughter, Cereza. She describes her gaming as happening “occasionally” due to her busy schedule.
Even after welcoming a new baby, her skills are as sharp as ever. This was clear when she won her local monthly tournament, Juicy Game Night, in Orlando, Florida, and the victory quickly went viral.
Juicy Game Night organizes competitions for many popular fighting games, including Mortal Kombat XL. Last Saturday, September 27th, players from across Florida came together to compete, and the exciting outcomes are now trending on social media.
Mom wins Mortal Kombat tournament 5 days after c-section
Baby Cereza arrived on September 22, 2025, delivered by C-section. The pregnancy was challenging because Legi0n had developed a ‘uterine window’ – a condition where the uterine wall had become extremely thin due to prior C-sections, almost becoming see-through.
In addition to everything else, she experienced intense pain in the days before giving birth. Doctors warned that if she had gone into full labor, her uterus could have ruptured. For this reason, they decided to deliver the baby a little early with a cesarean section.
Just five days after Cereza was born, Legi0n and her husband spontaneously decided to bring their newborn to a local fighting game tournament. Even though she was still recovering from a difficult surgery, Legi0n decided to compete anyway.
We were so happy to finally bring our baby home. 💜 While she’ll never replace her big sister, I’m incredibly thankful that Cereza is healthy.
I also never imagined a game with a Mario theme could make me cry, or that playing this one as a child would resonate with me even more now.— Goonz | ♛𝕷𝖊𝖌𝖎0̷𝖓♛ ☕{@ motherhood} (@_Legi0n_) September 25, 2025
It was amazing watching Legi0n compete! She had just had her daughter – only five days old! – and still managed to battle through the whole four-player bracket. Seriously impressive! She even beat her own husband to make it to Grand Finals where she faced off against King Kai. I was on the edge of my seat!
She secured first place with a score of 3-2, earning $28 and a trip to DreamHack Atlanta in late October. The gaming community enthusiastically shared their excitement online, amazed by her skill, especially given that she was also caring for her baby during the match.
😭😭 Amazing!
Huge congratulations to @_Legi0n_ for being crowned champion in Mortal Kombat XL!

For Legi0n, this is more than just reconnecting with friends – it shows that parents can continue enjoying their passions and hobbies while also being dedicated to their families. It’s a reminder that it’s possible to have both!
She shared on X how happy she was that they’d gone out and done something. She noted that their older daughter is very relaxed with sounds and car trips, likely because she traveled frequently during pregnancy. She added that she doesn’t want to give up the things she enjoys, but she does need to make some changes to her lifestyle to better suit their younger daughter.
I hope people realize that they can still pursue things they enjoy, no matter their circumstances, even if it’s just in small increments. It’s important to never think it’s not worthwhile.
I’ve been following Legi0n’s story, and it’s just heartbreaking. She’s been really open about how difficult her pregnancy journey has been – she actually almost died twice due to complications. The first time was with her daughter Cereza’s birth, and then again after giving birth to her first daughter, Alcina. Sadly, little Alcina only lived for 11 days; she had a tumor caused by something called Kasabach Merritt Syndrome. It’s just so incredibly sad and I really feel for her.
She expressed strong concern on X about the dangers of pregnancy and childbirth. “It’s a truly serious process – you can literally die, and I came very close to that myself. Twice.”
I won that match thanks to her help during the game. We’re sending our daughter to Dreamhack! 🎉
And she keeps trying to nibble on my chest when I hold her, so I had to gently press her face away for a quick moment. 💀— Goonz | ♛𝕷𝖊𝖌𝖎0̷𝖓♛ ☕{@ motherhood} (@_Legi0n_) September 28, 2025
She’s deeply thankful for the backing she receives from her local gaming group, really highlighting how important the community is within the fighting game world.
She explained that we always have companionship, and if we keep supporting our friends as they support us, we’ll consistently be lucky to have such caring friends who are there for us through difficult times, not just when we’re enjoying success. It’s about mutual support through everything, she emphasized.
I also really enjoy celebrating important moments in life with friends and family. I’m happy I got to do that a few times before our youngest daughter arrived, and I’m sure there will be many more opportunities in the future.
