Eric Kripke reveals fight that will end The Boys Season 5

According to the creator of The Boys, the final battle between Homelander (Antony Starr) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) will happen in Season 5, marking their last confrontation.

According to Eric Kripke, the core of the story is the conflict between Billy Butcher and the superhero Homelander. He always intended for their confrontation to happen, telling Parade that avoiding it would have greatly upset viewers. He felt it was a necessary and expected conclusion to the narrative.

Kripke explained that the show was always headed towards a collision course between Homelander’s increasing instability and Butcher’s descent into darkness. He anticipated these two characters ultimately clashing with each other.

The experienced writer and producer revealed he’d known all along how the final fight between Billy and Homelander would go, and he also knew how the season would end for all the main characters.

According to Eric Kripke, the writers had a very clear idea of how the series would end – specifically, the fates of all the characters in the final 15 pages of the script. Knowing who would live or die and what their ultimate outcomes would be, they then spent much of Season 5 crafting the story to lead to that conclusion.

The fifth and final season of The Boys began streaming on April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes. New episodes will be released weekly, every other Wednesday, and the series will conclude on May 20.
