The creator of Yellowstone is returning to directing feature films with a new Western focused on war. While he’s famous for launching the Yellowstone universe – including its spin-offs, sequels, and shows like Landman and Tulsa King – he’s also written acclaimed movies like Sicario and Hell or High Water, and directed Wind River. However, seeing this new film will be a challenge for audiences.
Taylor Sheridan will write and direct a new Western film about the Battle of the Alamo, a key event in the Texas Revolution. The battle, which lasted 13 days in 1836, pitted a small group of Texan defenders against a much larger Mexican army led by President General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Though many, including Davy Crockett, were killed, the Texans fought bravely and refused to surrender, making the Alamo a lasting symbol of courage and defiance.

The story of the Battle of the Alamo has been told on film many times, most notably in John Wayne’s 1960 movie, The Alamo, where he played Davy Crockett. Given Taylor Sheridan’s passion for Westerns, it’s no surprise he’s now creating a 4D experience for visitors. This new film will be shown at a state-of-the-art 4D theater currently being built at the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum in San Antonio.
According to a recent announcement on the Texas Lieutenant Governor’s website, the project will be a modern, immersive experience bringing the story of the Battle of the Alamo to life. Sheridan stated…
The Alamo is central to the story of Texas. I am proud to share the story of the courageous individuals who died defending it.
