Obsidian has launched the turn-based combat update for Pillars of Eternity on PC today, after testing it with the public.
The new update comes with a trailer showcasing the turn-based mode, and details are available on Obsidian’s website. However, there’s currently no information about features like controller support for the PC version, or when this mode might be available on consoles.
Pillars of Eternity is now released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can find our review of the PC version here and the console version here.
Obsidian Entertainment has released a trailer detailing the turn-based mode now available in Pillars of Eternity. You can watch it to learn more.
We’re excited to share that Turn-Based Mode is now available for the original Pillars of Eternity on Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG, and the Xbox PC App.
First introduced in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, this feature brings a completely revamped combat system to the original Pillars of Eternity. Now, you can experience the first game with a turn-based style of combat that’s more flexible and strategic. What’s different from Deadfire is that you can switch between the classic real-time with pause system and the new turn-based mode whenever you like, giving you complete control over how you play. If you enjoyed turn-based combat in Pillars II, we think you’ll find this addition to the original game both easy to pick up and even better.
This update includes more than just improvements to Turn-Based Mode. We’ve addressed feedback from the beta testers and fixed bugs in the mode itself. We’ve also added a fun new feature: you can now change the artwork on the main menu by clicking on the icons for the base game or any DLC you own.
You can find a complete list of the updates on our forum. This is a significant new feature, and we know that some issues may still arise after the beta test. We’ll continue to improve it based on your feedback, so please reach out to us at https://www.support.obsidian.net if you encounter any problems.
