Thousands of marshmallows rain from helicopter during wholesome Easter celebration

Instead of the usual Easter egg hunt, kids in two Detroit parks were surprised on April 3rd when thousands of marshmallows fell from a helicopter, creating a fun scramble for everyone!

Wayne County Parks held its yearly Marshmallow Drop event in Trenton and Westland, Michigan, according to The Independent. The event happened at different times in each location.

A helicopter flew over a field, and children cheered as it dropped hundreds of fluffy treats! The pilot made three passes to make sure everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, had a chance to grab some.

Marshmallows mean prizes, not snacks

Although seeing thousands of marshmallows rain down from the sky would be a dream come true for anyone who loves sweets, event organizers had a firm rule for the children: don’t eat the marshmallows.

Rather than eating the marshmallows that had fallen on the ground, the children were asked to gather them up and trade them for Easter prizes at a special exchange station.

Even though everyone was rushing around, parents said the atmosphere was surprisingly calm and friendly. Some children grabbed a lot of marshmallows, but their parents helped by putting some back so other kids could also win prizes.

First-time attendee David Alexander, who brought his children aged 7 and 10, described the event as peaceful and friendly. He said there was no pushing, shoving, or fighting.

Another attendee, Anna Grote, also shared her enthusiasm, describing the event as a “wonderful” start to the holiday weekend.
