X-Men: MCU’s Mutant Saga Could Feature Jacob Elordi & These Young Actors — Report

Marvel Studios is said to be searching for new actors to take leading roles in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After The Infinity Saga concluded in 2019, many viewers thought Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans had finished their time as Marvel heroes. The start of The Multiverse Saga brought in a wave of new characters like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), and Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac). These were expected to become the new stars of the MCU, but most haven’t appeared in many projects beyond their own individual stories.

Following the decision to move away from Kang as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, Marvel brought back Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans to play key roles in the upcoming Avengers films, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ – as Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers, respectively. Since these actors aren’t expected to continue with Marvel after the Multiverse Saga ends, the studio is now searching for new stars to lead the next set of movies and shows.

Which actors are Marvel Studios rumored to be considering for roles in the Mutant Saga?

Marvel Studios is reportedly looking at younger actors for upcoming roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to insider James Mack on X, potential candidates include Jacob Elordi (known for “Frankenstein” and “Saltburn”), Julia Butters (“Freakier Friday”), Timothée Chalamet (“Dune: Part Two”), and Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”).

Rumors connecting Butters and Jacob Elordi to Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot aren’t new. Last year, industry insider Jeff Sneider suggested Butters was a potential fit for the role of Kitty Pryde. More recently, in February, another source, MyTimeToShineHello, reported that Elordi was a strong contender for a role in the X-Men project.

MyTimeToShineHello has suggested Timothée Chalamet might play Harry Osborn in the upcoming Spider-Man film, Brand New Day, but this seems doubtful. Chalamet has been reluctant to appear in superhero movies, and he recently shared that Leonardo DiCaprio advised him to steer clear of both superhero films and hard drugs, joking, “I follow them both!”

The actor also shared that the film which originally inspired him to pursue acting was the superhero movie The Dark Knight. He added that he would definitely consider taking a role in a similar project if the script and director were exceptional.

Jake Schreier will direct the upcoming X-Men movie, which Marvel’s Kevin Feige describes as being aimed at a younger audience with a tight-knit cast. The film is currently planned for release after Marvel completes its Multiverse Saga, likely in 2027.
