Following the success of the popular Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 to 2012, comes Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. The new series is set 15 years later and centers on Justin Russo (David Henrie) as he raises a family. Their lives are complicated when his sister, Alex (Selena Gomez), asks him to mentor a young wizard named Billie (Janice Lee Ann Brown). Wizards of Waverly Place was Selena Gomez’s first major role and helped launch her career. The season two finale of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place ended with a surprising reveal – Billie is actually Alex’s daughter – and Alex seemingly sacrificing herself to save the world, leaving fans eager to see what happens next.
Disney has announced a final, shortened season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, with just four episodes planned. Variety reports the new season will arrive in summer 2026. Selena Gomez, who previously appeared on the show and is an executive producer, will return as a guest star. She’ll also be directing the first episode, marking her directorial debut.
In Season 3 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Billie is still upset about losing her sister, Alex. According to Variety, she learns that the key to saving their mother is finding her estranged father. While the Russos work together to find Alex, Billie discovers that their combined magical abilities are their only hope against the evil force threatening them.

A major question for Season 3 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is who will play Billie’s father, a character named Damian Pennwolf who hasn’t appeared in the show yet. David Henrie, one of the stars, has suggested Lamorne Morris from New Girl for the role, and he’s also noted that fans are hoping for Jordan Fisher. Given that the season only has four episodes, the writers will need to move the story along quickly.
The new series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, premiered on Disney Channel on October 29, 2024, with the first nine episodes immediately available on Disney+. The first season included 21 episodes, and season two began airing on September 12, 2025, with 10 episodes. The show will have a total of 35 episodes over three years, including a final season of just four episodes. This is shorter than the original Wizards of Waverly Place, which had 106 episodes over four seasons and five years.
