TikTok viewers can now buy custom videos from their favorite creators

TikTok is now letting creators earn money in a new way by teaming up with Cameo. This means fans can request and receive personalized videos directly within the TikTok app.

This partnership lets TikTok users in the US request personalized videos from their favorite creators directly within the app. Fans can now easily pay for these custom messages without needing to go to another website or platform like Cameo.

This change is happening because both companies want to help creators earn more money and take advantage of the expanding creator economy.

Creators can now sell personalized videos directly on TikTok

TikTok users in the US who create content can now join Cameo and make personalized videos for their fans, even using clips from their existing TikToks as a base.

Now, fans can ask creators for personalized videos. Creators can also use buttons on their TikTok posts to easily let people know they’re available on Cameo. Plus, you can search for “Cameo” directly within TikTok to find your favorite creators and request videos from them.

This update makes it easier for fans to connect with creators and gives creators new tools to earn money directly from their supporters within the app.

This collaboration is happening through TikTok’s American division, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, which is how TikTok manages its business in the US. For Cameo, this partnership is a key part of its plan to recover and grow after a slowdown following the surge in popularity during the pandemic.

Cameo’s CEO, Steven Galanis, noted that Cameo videos often become popular on TikTok, demonstrating how the two platforms connect with each other.

Cameo, which was valued at $1 billion in 2021, experienced a significant decrease in value, falling by approximately 90% by March 2024 as demand decreased after the pandemic.

Recently, the company changed its approach by making it easier to join and working with more social media influencers instead of traditional celebrities. This new TikTok partnership continues that trend, using features within the app to help people find and book talent, and ultimately boost the company’s growth.
