Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered will have the return of Raiko and new gameplay systems

Aquaplus has released new details for and updated the game’s official website, now including a complete English translation.

I’m so excited about the latest updates for the game! We’re getting to know more of the characters who will be important to the story. It’s great to see Raiko, Ashta, and Nava returning from the first game, Monochrome Mobius, but I’m really intrigued by the new additions. Apparently, we’ll be meeting Shunrai, who’s Raiko’s mother and also Mikazuki’s stepmother! And it’s not just characters – they’ve revealed some cool new ways to play too, like Area Conquest mode and something called Halu’s ATF Program. I can’t wait to try it all out!

The full details and images are available below. Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered will launch on PC via Steam worldwide on May 27th. In addition, Japan will also receive the game on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

New Gameplay Systems

Area Conquest

Okay, so the game world is split into zones, and you take them over by beating up a bunch of enemies in each one. Sometimes, though, you’ll run into these super tough bosses called Area Rulers that you have to defeat before you can truly claim a zone as yours.

After capturing a territory, you can instantly defeat enemies with a special area attack. You’ll get the same experience and loot as if you’d defeated them in a regular fight, which is a fast way to gain levels or gather resources.

Halu’s ATF Program

Halu can now unlock Armored Trance Form (ATF). When he’s in this form, his abilities change based on the body type you choose. You can go with a balanced approach, or specialize in quick attacks to defeat your opponents. Try different options to find what works best for each challenge!





More Characters

  • Raiko (VA: Ryoutaro Okiayu)
    A Pillar General also known as Raiko the Sage.
    He is Mikazuchi’s older brother, although the two of them are very different.
    Raiko is a coolheaded strategist who always tries to see the bigger picture.
     
  • Shunrai (VA: Yuuki Kuwahara)
    Mother of Raiko and Mirai, as well as Mikazuchi (by adoption).
    She looks so young, you’d never guess she had grownup children.
     
  • Ashta (VA: Miho Okasaki)
    A young girl from Arva Shulan.
    She’s shorter than her younger sister, but is the more rational of the two.
    Ashta and Nava are currently in Yamato on a secret mission from the Shantuura.
     
  • Nava (VA: Maki Hanagiri)
    A young girl from Arva Shulan.
    She’s taller than her older sister, but is the more childlike of the two.
    Ashta and Nava are currently in Yamato on a secret mission from the Shantuura.
