Build a Rocket Boy’s CEO is planning a new initiative, called MindsEye, to share what they believe is proof that the game’s launch was deliberately disrupted.
MindsEye definitely had a very difficult launch in 2025. It briefly earned the lowest Metacritic score of any game released that year.
Despite being plagued with problems and serious bugs, the studio’s CEO, Mark Gerhard, believes someone intentionally tried to harm the game. He claimed, even before the game launched in May 2025, that certain reviewers were paid to publish negative feedback.
After the game’s release, Gerhard maintained that a deliberate campaign was underway to damage its reputation and the studio’s image.
After conducting their own inquiries and reportedly involving authorities in both the UK and the US, the developers are taking another step. Rather than waiting for a legal resolution, the CEO is directing staff to create a new in-game event designed to present “evidence” backing up his statements.
New MindsEye mission to reveal how game was allegedly “sabotaged”
Gerhard recently told GamesBeat that a new installment of MindsEye is being developed. The new mission, titled Blacklist, will feature a female lead character.
Details about how long the mission will last or its main goal haven’t been released yet, but it will definitely investigate claims that MindsEye was unfairly blamed for something.

The CEO stated they are using this mission to show the community proof of the sabotage that occurred.
It’s currently unknown what specific evidence exists, but a past conversation offers a potential clue. Gerhard previously suggested the studio intended to reveal the identities of people supposedly involved in the sabotage.
He explained they needed to share their side of the story publicly before it went to court. They had been patient and focused on fixing things internally, even when facing criticism. Now, they were ready to respond forcefully and defend themselves.
We’ll have to wait and see when this mission becomes available, and just who it takes aim at.
