While scuba diving near Manasota Key, a father and son had an incredible discovery: a six-inch tooth from a Megalodon, the biggest shark to ever exist.
Aiden and Brian Andrews, a father and son from Wyoming, went on a fossil-hunting dive with Fossil Junkies, a tour group in Manasota Key, Florida. They used an underwater camera to document their dive.
Sixteen-year-old Aiden was exploring the ocean floor when he found a tooth and retrieved it. Back on the surface, his father was amazed to discover it was a six-inch Megalodon tooth – about the size of Aiden’s hand.

Megalodons could reach up to 60 feet in length
Aiden and Brian can be seen celebrating their achievement in this video.

Captain John Kreatsoulas told FOX 13 Tampa Bay that while small megalodon teeth are often discovered, the one Aiden found is unusually large and therefore very rare.
Megalodon teeth are valuable and can fetch high prices. For example, a tooth about four inches long currently sells for around $400 on the Fossil Junkies website. Larger, six-inch teeth are very rare and aren’t currently available there.
