If you enjoyed The Summer I Turned Pretty and are looking for a new romantic series, Prime Video’s Every Year After is a great choice.

After becoming a huge hit on Prime Video, with its third season reaching number one in over 120 countries and attracting three times more viewers than its first season, The Summer I Turned Pretty is now being adapted into a movie. The series is based on the popular novel by Jenny Han.

Amazon Prime Video has released initial photos from its upcoming series based on Carley Fortune’s popular novel, Every Summer After. Titled Every Year After, all eight episodes will be available to stream starting June 10th. The show features Sadie Soverall (from Saltburn) and Matt Cornett (known for Summer of 69) as the leads, Percy and Sam. The cast also includes Abigail Cowen, Aurora Perrineau, Michael Bradway, Joseph Chiu, and Elisha Cuthbert.

Set in the charming lakeside town of Barry’s Bay and unfolding over six years and a week, Every Year After is a tender and heartwarming story about first love and the lasting impact of the people and decisions that shape our lives.

The upcoming series, Every Year After, is adapted from a bestselling novel by Fortune that became a hit on BookTok, racking up over 81.4 million views on TikTok. The book has sold over one million copies and spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list. Amy B. Harris (known for Just My Luck, The Wilds, and Gossip Girl) will lead the show as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Fortune, Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy.

After three seasons, The Summer I Turned Pretty concluded in 2025 with a 79% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Jenny Han, who created the series and wrote the original books, is now writing and directing a movie to finish Belly’s story (played by Lola Tung). The show centers around Belly as she navigates a love triangle with two brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), during her annual summer visits.

As of today, the movie doesn’t have a release date yet. The director, Han, is taking the time to make sure the final film is just right and that the actors naturally grow into their characters’ next stages of life.

Every Year After will be released on Prime Video on June 10.
