Half Man tells the story of two men who aren’t brothers by blood, but share a bond as close as family. One is strong and devoted, while the other is gentle and quiet. They’ve been inseparable since childhood, brought together by tragedy and life’s unexpected turns, and they rely completely on each other.
Ruben and Niall were best friends growing up, but after thirty years, they reconnect at Niall’s wedding and things feel off. Ruben seems nervous and secretive, and isn’t behaving normally. A sudden violent event then reveals the story of their lives, flashing back from the 1980s to the present.
Mitchell Robertson (known for Curfew and Mayflies) portrays a younger Niall, while Stuart Campbell (SAS Rogue Heroes, The Winter King) plays Ruben (also called Campbell). Neve McIntosh (Tin Star, Chemistry of Death) appears as Niall’s mother, Lori, and Marianne McIvor (Screw, The Nest) plays Ruben’s mother, Maura, in Half Man.
The show features a talented cast including Charlie De Melo, known from Rivals; Bilal Hasna (The Agency); Julie Cullen (Traces); Amy Manson (The Nevers); Anjli Mohindra (The Lazarus Project); Tim Downie (Outlander); Tom Andrews (Feel Good); Philippine Velge (The Serpent Queen); Stuart McQuarrie (The Rig); Sandy Batchelor (SAS Rogue Heroes); Piers Ewart (The Primrose Railway Children); Scot Greenan (T2 Trainspotting), as well as newcomers Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip, and Kate Robson-Stuart.
