Is Alice in Borderland USA happening? What we know after ‘unbelievable’ Season 3 ending

Following the shocking finale of Alice in Borderland Season 3, many viewers are asking if an American version of the show is in the works. Here’s a breakdown of what we currently know about a potential Alice in Borderland USA series, along with what fans are saying.

In the third season of the Netflix show, Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) finds herself pulled back into the dangerous Borderland, with a little assistance from the enigmatic Ryuji Matsuyama (Kento Kaku). It isn’t long before Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) follows, determined to rescue her.

A fresh set of games has begun, this time focused on eliminating the Joker card. From the start, “Alice in Borderland” and “Squid Game” have shared striking similarities – both shows feature people battling to stay alive through dangerous and often fatal games.

Season 3 really starts to feel familiar: a baby becomes central to the plot, Banda takes on the role of the Recruiter, and the season concludes with a shocking twist. Be warned – the following contains spoilers!

Is Alice in Borderland USA happening?

Okay, so Netflix hasn’t officially said *anything* yet about what’s next – whether we’ll get an American version of ‘Alice in Borderland’, another season of the original, or maybe even both! But the really good news is, everyone involved seems totally up for it, which is a huge relief as a fan!

Talk of an American version of the show only started after Season 3 aired. The season ended with Arisu and Usagi successfully returning to reality, and they’re expecting a baby.

Things had returned to normal, but then an earthquake hit Tokyo. When Arisu turned on the TV, he learned that major earthquakes were happening all over the world, and the west coast of the United States was expected to be hit hardest.

Just before Arisu could escape the Borderlands, he faced one last challenge from the Watchman (Ken Watanabe), the person in charge of guiding people between life and death.

During their conversation, the Watchman tells Arisu that the game will soon be overwhelmed with players because a catastrophic event is about to occur in the real world-an event far more devastating than the previous meteorite strike.

According to the news, this wasn’t a hoax. A catastrophic event, unlike any other in history, is imminent.

The third season of Alice in Borderland ends with a scene shift from Tokyo to Los Angeles. Two men walk into a bar and order drinks. The camera focuses on the waitress’s name tag, which reads “Alice,” though her face remains unseen.

Similar to how Season 3 of Squid Game concluded, this sets up a potential continuation of the story in America, with Alice now in the role previously held by Arisu. However, it remains uncertain if an American version will actually be made.

Alternatively, the American story could happen at the same time as the main events. The actors and everyone working on the show definitely want to continue making it.

Cast and crew talk Alice in Borderland Season 4

Director Shinsuke Sato told Radio Times he’d definitely be open to making more seasons of the show if given the chance.

He’s also keen on turning *Alice on Border Road*, a spin-off manga by the creator of *Alice in Borderland*, Haro Aso, into a series. This new story also features a character named Alice, but is set in Kyoto within the same world as the original.

Usagi star Tao Tsuchiya expressed her interest in returning for another season of the Netflix show, and she even has a potential storyline in mind.

The story starts with a child ending up in a strange and dangerous place called Borderland, and their parents must venture in to rescue them. The child is completely lost and doesn’t understand this new world, but the parents do.

Children will naturally wonder who these people are, if they’re their parents, and why they seem to know so much. This can create a bit of distrust at first. But as they play the games together, acting as parents and children, they rediscover and appreciate the strong bond of family.

If this were just a single event like a movie or a one-time special, we’d handle everything ourselves, without involving our child. However, because it’s a series spanning multiple seasons, it’s feasible for us to manage things differently.

We want to bring our personal experiences and wisdom, gained over the years, to the storytelling. I’m hoping the producers will be open to incorporating that!

Alice in Borderland fans slam ‘unbelievable’ Season 3 ending

Viewers have different ideas about where the story of Alice in Borderland could go if it gets a fourth season, but a lot of them hope it doesn’t become a remake set in America.

Okay, I just finished Alice in Borderland Season 3 and seriously, the ending is insane! Someone shared a pic of Cate Blanchett from the Squid Game Season 3 finale alongside it, and honestly, it kinda sums up how mind-blowing it was.

One person expressed frustration with both *Squid Game* and *Alice in Borderland* seemingly setting up American adaptations, writing, “Why are they ending with hints at English spinoffs? Just leave the shows alone – I don’t want an American version!”

Someone else suggested that the mention of a large influx of people into the Borderlands wasn’t about an American spin-off, but rather a reference to global seismic events, not just those in Japan. They believe the Watchman was hinting at worldwide activity.

Since the show is set in America, they were able to use the ‘Alice’ name tag for a clever ending. Plus, the writers have used up all the original story content to adapt.

Season 3 of the show diverged from the original manga, although it did take some elements from it. However, the manga’s story essentially ends with Season 3, meaning any future seasons would be entirely original content.

Some viewers believe a potential fourth season of Alice in Borderland might feature another Joker game. This idea stems from Oki Yaba, who decided to remain in the Borderland at the end of Season 2, and suggests he could be the one to organize it.

They believe something important is being overlooked. According to a mysterious old man, a full deck of cards actually contains two jokers – one represented by a person named Sunato Banda, and the other by someone called Oki Yaba.

I believe Oki Yaba will be back for another season, as far as I know they didn’t die, unlike Sunato Banda. I expect the show to continue with Oki Yaba’s story.

We’ll continue to add new details to this article as we get them. Right now, you can watch Season 3 of Alice in Borderland on Netflix.
