Yes, That Was A Star Wars Jedi In The Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer

The complete trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is out now! Besides seeing familiar characters like MJ (Zendaya) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), fans were surprised to see a face from the “Star Wars” universe. The movie continues the story after the ending of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where everyone has forgotten Peter Parker.

The memory wipe affected everyone, including Peter’s girlfriend, MJ, and his best friend, Ned. Now, Peter is facing a painful surprise: MJ has a new boyfriend. A trailer clip shows this new boyfriend sweetly interacting with MJ at a party while Peter watches, clearly upset.

Honestly, that scene absolutely wrecked me, but it also revealed something huge! It turns out a major actor from Star Wars has officially jumped over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – it’s a really big move for him, and I’m still processing it all!

Eman Esfandi Is Officially In Spider-Man: Brand New Day

I was so thrilled to see Eman Esfandi as live-action Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka! It was amazing to see a character I loved from Star Wars Rebels brought to life, and now I’m even more excited to hear he’ll be playing MJ’s new boyfriend in Brand New Day. He really made an impact in the first season of Ahsoka, and I’m so glad they’ve confirmed he’ll be back for season 2!

Taking on a well-known character in live-action is often a challenge for actors, but Eman Esfandi has been well-received by Star Wars fans. They’ve praised his ability to capture Ezra’s energetic personality and charisma. Esfandi is also a big Star Wars enthusiast, often sharing posts about Ezra, Ahsoka, and even a running joke from Rebels where his character, Ezra, jokingly claimed to be Jabba the Hutt.

Currently, we don’t know the name of the character actor Navid Negahban is playing in the upcoming Brand New Day series. However, many fans believe he might be portraying Paul Rabin, Mary Jane’s boyfriend from the comics, a character who isn’t very well-liked. Interestingly, the comics later reveal that Paul is the son of a supervillain called Emissary.

Many fans seem to dislike Paul primarily because of his relationship with MJ. It looks like Esfandi’s character might face the same reaction, regardless of whether he’s playing Paul or someone else, as he’s developing a close connection with MJ in the new movie. Despite this, Esfandi is a welcome and exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This Is A Major Step In Esfandi’s Career

Beyond the buzz about his connection to Star Wars, Sam Esfandi joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could be a turning point in his career. While Star Wars is a massive franchise, Esfandi’s role so far has been limited – he’s only been in one season of Ahsoka, though he is expected to appear in more Star Wars projects in the future.

This is especially true when considering Star Wars. Despite the success of several Star Wars shows – some of which are considered among the franchise’s best – a clear difference still exists between the popularity of the movies and the shows. Esfandi hasn’t appeared in any of the films yet.

Esfandi is taking a big step forward with Brand New Day, and it’s well-earned. He’s already shown off his captivating screen presence in Ahsoka, and he’s clearly comfortable joining major franchises. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he’s sure to impress again, whether he plays Paul or not.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
