Dianne Warren didn’t win an Oscar this year, and with this loss, she’s now the record holder for the most nominations without a win.
Diane Warren is a highly decorated songwriter who has received prestigious awards like Grammys, Emmys, and Golden Globes.
Warren has received two major honors in the music industry: induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Academy Awards have had a mixed impact on Warren, and this year he accomplished something no one else has in the history of the Oscars.
Diane Warren has now been nominated for 17 Oscars without a win

Diane Warren, the songwriter behind the song ‘Dear Me’ featured in her documentary Diane Warren: Relentless, has received a remarkable 17 Academy Award nominations throughout her career, though she has yet to win one.
‘Golden’ from Kpop Demon Hunters was the red-hot favorite this year, and duly took home the Oscar.
With this loss, Warren now has more Oscar nominations than Greg P. Russell, a sound mixer who has been nominated 16 times without ever winning.
Warren took the loss in stride, joking on Facebook: “At least I’m consistently losing! I did set a new record tonight, though! But I’ll be back if you want me to!”
Warren received his first Oscar nomination for the song ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ from the movie Mannequin, but it lost to ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’ from Dirty Dancing.
She has since been nominated for awards for songs from several films, including ‘How Do I Live’ (from Con Air), ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ (from Armageddon), and, most recently, ‘The Journey’ from the 2024 film, The Six Triple Eight.
Although Meryl Streep has already received an honorary Academy Award, she still hopes to win a competitive Oscar. She recently told the New York Times, “I’m very competitive, and while the honorary award is a huge honor – and actually harder to earn – I’m still striving for a competitive one.”
I truly appreciate everything I have, but I’m still driven to win. My honorary Oscar statue feels a little lonely and could use a buddy!
The Oscars faced criticism for how they handled the Kpop Demon Hunters’ acceptance speech, and for omitting David Keighley from the memorial segment. Additionally, Sean Penn chose not to attend the ceremony, sparking further discussion.
